Delta hat culture?

This is true. Domestic short LGA layovers, we stay at a hotel that Asiana Airlines stays at. I’d see the 380 crew pull up in a bus and I’d think of @ChasenSFO:

Here’s an old video I made:

I'm sure he'll be a fan of our newest partnership:

PSP is a great overnight, probably less so now that it’s a million degrees in the shade
I was there last week and got in a hike in the afternoon. All the stuff on allltrails said "don't go in the afternoon!" I'm like ***** I'm from Texas, whatever. Saw one other dude out there, he was wearing a shirt with the state of Texas on it. Asked him where he was from, turns out to be same place I call home.

It was fine. Don't know if I'd do it mid day much later in the year.

I used to do a bike ride along 111 from PSP to Rancho Mirage library in the middle of summer afternoon. There was a water fountain halfway and I'd stop and cool off in the library and read Aviation Week. Then go back. Another great ride was the water park in Cath City. Sit in the wave pool. Was on night reserve at brown and didn't get used much. Those were the best days of my career.

Used to work out there climbing wind turbines. We'd start at 0-Dark-thirty in summer because it was well over 130F in the towers by 2pm.

How did that work for “accommodations”? Where you based there a needed a crashpad, or was this an assignment with company provided lodging?
It was 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. I bought a condo in PSP for a few years and after I got tired of the desert sold and bought a condo in San Clemente for a couple years. Being single it was like having two homes (primary residence was Spokane). They started using the reserves more to the point it wasn't a good deal. I milked it for a good four to five years though. All good things will go away. I was a senior F/O for a while, lived in GEG, and did a sweet day trip GEG to DSM and back. Nine days a month. They put an Airbus on it and that's when I upgraded. All good things must come to an end at UPS. I retired at age 60. Best move ever.

My jam is to take a hotel bicycle for a cruise. This time of year though, maybe just hide in the air conditioning

This is a schedule I would commute for.
I only upgraded cause I could hold hot PHX as a Capt. It was a sweet gig. Flew one day a week and the Marriot in Old Town SDL is the best hotel in the system. My F/O was a Colonel in PHX KC135 outfit. Great guy. We were on duty at 4pm and he'd sleep in a recliner the whole time. Not sure if he is still around. We get off at 11 and I'd try to get to Loco Patron in time for a couple Margaritas. Wash, rinse, repeat. Was a good deal for a couple years until they figured out the Hot PHX never did anything any they moved it to ONT. That was the end of that.

Mm I miss phoenix Westwind School Of Aeronautics

How long ago WAS this? But wait, what light from yonder window breaks!? It is Trump, the sun, and night reserve may once again be awesome! At least until we're all furloughed.

My cousin works for UPS he sat reserve in ONT and chilled with his kids at home for years. He had to go to the sim for landings all the time.

That all changed in 2008.

Ahhh, the days of the mom-n-pop flight schools that grew beyond their ability to manage. The 80's and 90's had some pretty spectacular flameouts.

Never once did I see one that had one shred of curb appeal. American Flyers old place at FXE came pretty close, with the dorms and the pool, but even then it looked like a repurposed building from a Community College.

My 2nd school was Pompano. They shuttered the Extended Stay America.
