Delta global system outage.

This thread still hasn't reached the epicness that is the "diarrhea in a freighter" thread over on FI...but I'm guessing @Derg would rather that type of discussion just remain over there :)

It reminds me of the time my old boss in Alaska was describing to my Girlfriend that he had done "Every bodily function imaginable while flying in the bush...Everyone"
(Eyes widening knowingly).

On the plus side I now know the exact way one should crap in a bag in a Beaver flying solo with no autopilot...[/QUOTE]

EV and 9E... Ever wonder why you don't hear it west of the Rockies?
I can only speak for 9E but I've never flown with a captain that plays on guard or one that would let an FO play around on guard. I'll tune it in and turn it all the way down to avoid hearing the nonsense though.

I've flown with 3.

Likewise. I've never once seen anyone screw around on guard.

I woke up in SLC thinking it would be a zoo that morning. Got there to see it was dead. Was suppose to be full. Boarded up with 50 and went to Denver. All gates occupied, but they found us a new gate. DEN was mass chaos. Mainline planes sitting everywhere. 10 people boarded up and then no-one. Turns out they wanted to delay us and get more pax on board as they checked in. So every 5 minutes, 1 or 2 people boarded. Took 39 peeps to SEA. Got to SEA and it was twice the chaos as DEN was. They had free pizza though!

I have experience in both industries, it sounds like they were doing a normal backup when things went wrong. I heard power outage and couldn't get the main restored as well as a fire that took down both primary and backup. This is probably due to several factors, the root of all of them being that IT is most likely seen as a cost center.

Some companies are going to learn the hard way that to succeed today you must have a strong cooperation with the technical side of the house.
