Delta Flowthroughs and 35% ALPA DCI Hires

bronco21016

I know H.T.M.L. (How To Meet Ladies)
I was wondering if someone with access to the new Delta PWA or knowledge of it could either share the agreement, point me to where it might be, or answer some questions on it.

On one of the DCI carrier pilot message boards there is a discussion about the Compass and Mesaba flowthroughs possibly being cancelled because of this agreement. Is this true? I've heard arguments from both sides.

Also, what exactly is the language on this 35% of hiring needs to come from DCI carriers? Does Delta have to INTERVIEW 35% from DCI carriers or does 35% of each class need to be made up of former DCI pilots? Also, I heard that not only do they have to be from DCI but ALPA DCI carriers.

Can someone shed some light on these two things?

The TA did not effect the flow through. The TA added that 35% of future new hires must come from a ALPA DCI carrier. The flow through's are counted in the 35% number.

The 35% number is meaningless because over 35% of new hires were already DCI.

I wonder why in the world this had to be codified in our contract.

Kinda suspected that but was just curious.

Poor Skywest!

I was thinking more along the lines of Compass (assuming no flowthrough) and GoJet.

Doesn't really matter though Delta is gonna take their pick of whoever they want from whatever regional once they eventually start hiring.

Compass is ALPA, until recently they had the same MEC as Delta.

Compass also still has a gauranteed interview program after the flow throughs. Didn't know skywest had one though.

Come on Derg, surely you know that the stellar scope DALPA negotiated is going to dessimate DCI!! It's the least we could do.

If I remember correctly, a "preferred interview" comes with just being a DCI carrier. I remember hearing some guys going on and on about it when we first started flying for Delta. Does it matter if you get a preferred interview when almost everyone is a DCI carrier now?

I know tons of people at sky west that never got an interview from delta. Speaking of the interview is it still one shot one chance and about a 30-40% pass?

Delta was always one of those places i wanted to go to buy figured the interview was beyond my ability.

Part of the interview is like that. The important part.

Please don't take this the wrong way but if that is your feeling then you've already lost the battle for any interview. The Delta interview can be prepared for just like any other. If you do the research and the prep work it's entirely doable. You do what you can beforehand and then show up with a clear conscience and let the chips fall as they may. For that reason my Delta interview was no more difficult or stressful than my XJT interview or my NWA interview. Don't buy into the flight deck gossip that XYZ interview is harder than any other therefore you shouldn't apply. They're all challenging and stressful to some degree but often for different reasons. It's how you prepare that helps you manage the stress. If you do that part WELL you'll find yourself actually enjoying the process.

Be the guy who pursues and capitalizes on opportunity not the guy who is complaining to his FO 10 years down the road about the African American female former intern RJ FO "that he once knew and flew with" who got hired by mainline before upgrading. Those guys are quite possibly the biggest POS's in this business. I'll guarantee you if you dig enough said captain 1) made up the FO he was complaining about and 2) never even bothered applying to any airlines...was it fear or laziness? Either way don't listen to him for career advice!

The interview isn't that hard if you have some basic college-level aptitude.

Hell, I was a Beech 1900 FO (had gotten my type rating but started IOE during the interview process) so I didn't think I had any business being there until my dad said, "Boy, they called you because they want to hire you, don't give them a reason not to."

SkyWest has a preferred interview, not a guaranteed interview.

Really? It seems the vast majority of folks I've flown with here want to, but didn't get a call in the last few rounds of hiring. Regardless, my hats in the ring for when the time comes.
