Delta flight ask pax to pay for fuel

Commuting home last night on American, I went to the lav and saw in the galley it was an ex-TWA bird. Completely changed the flight for me. I miss that airline...

Proudly display a TWA sticker on my bag for my time working ramp. I'll never get over not getting to fly there.

When/where did you work TWA ramp, Matt?

Seeing them and PanAm go under made me realize there is no such thing as 'forever' in this industry.

If an airline and an employee spend 30 years together, that's great. But it's not going to happen often. I remember bawling like a baby at the end of the book 'Skygods' as it talked about the last PanAm flight coming back into MIA. It was June of 2001, and I was 3 months with AA. I remember very clearly thinking "wow, if this can happen to PanAm, and TWA, am I going to still be flying for AA in 20 years? Will it be a different name? What's going to change?". Kind of eerie, considering what happened 3 months after that.

Sorry Tony, sometimes it's hard to 'hear' the tone of posts, especially a newer user who I'm not as familier with as others. In re-reading my post, I really came off sounding like a b-word. Sorry.

It's all good. :)

And you still have time to post?!?!?!

Our first two were 17 months apart - - you're off to a great start!

On a side note is this the same Sioux Falls airport where Captain Al Haynes became famous?

Nope, that was Sioux City, Iowa.

Edit: oooops, didn't realize the question had been cleared up a bunch of times......oh well, that's what I get for not reading all the way through before responding

Was there one named "Fine Swine"? (That was my favorite)

"Makin' Bacon" (Bill's Favorite)

"Top Chop"

"Soar Boar"

I didn't know you were ex-TWA too. When were you there?

Oh yes...I have an entire list of them. "Moon over Myhammy" was a favorite. Also "Kermit's Desire", "Trough Aloft", "Myhammy Vice", "Ham Sweet Ham", "Aurora Boarialis". A lot history in those old birds. I was only there for about a year in '98.

Those were all -200's and the old flight attendants simply called it the "stretch"...since they all worked the -100 early in their careers...even though TWA hadn't flown a -100 in years. If a FA said she was going to fly a "stretch" to ORD...you knew it was a 727.

TWA and Clipper... The hometown airline and the airline I flew to South America every summer as a kid to visit family. They are the two reasons I'm an airline pilot today...

I worked for TWA in the terminal at STL for 2 years during summer breaks. Met a lot of really cool people there, and always saw myself wearing the red and gold some day...
