Delta Disqualifiers

I think a lot of civilian types see what you do, pulling G's and what not, but don't understand the multitudes of ground time that is put into each mission.
Nor do they understand how the military takes the "fun" out of nearly everything...

(I may sound like a negative Ned, but I wouldn't trade my wings for a Delta job....I'd rather do both)

The ultimate freedom I have as a pilot (aviator?) is jumping in my bird and if I want to go left, I go left.

wish I could double like this brother.

I know I'm one of the only people who says this, but I just hate that movie.

Star Trek III, IV & VI, IMO opinion were the best of the original series movies.

Little known fact. But did you know that you had to have a 787 type rating before you could join Star Fleet, and pilot the Enterprise 1701-A.

Why... because nostalgia. Star Fleet wanted to know that if you could pilot an primitive air vehicle through the fluid gases of air. That you would for sure know how to fly a Star ship with thrusters, in the void of space.

The two are more connected than you know.

@jtrain609 you can count me as part of the problem.

If American wants a lunar landing, good for them. It is their choice of who they want filling their seat.

You should have been taught about the Equal Opportunity Act in your fancy law school.

So Delta wants people who graduate college in four years.

American wants astronauts.

And United only wants pilots with disciplined CRM skills.

Why is this thread even still going, everyone stop and fill out apps at United, it's the most attainable one!!!

But can you do an unrestricted climb at any time of your own choosing, that's all that really matters.

Serious question.

She wasn't but mind you, most of the other folks are civilians who just apply. They also do not control the shuttle.
So the others aren't astronauts? I think that if someone goes into space and comes back they can refer to themselves as an astronaut. And the only people controlling the shuttle these days are museum directors.

Exhibit A

I heard the XJ Olympian retired... He's 57 now.

He didn't flow or do the SSP as he's not on the DL seniority list. What a cool story!

I think it's funny people getting all uppity over x airline asking for x. They can ask for what they want, and they seem to do a great job of selecting good people. Part of getting hired is learning how to do the dance that is needed for each carrier! (Don't ask me how I got cold called by WN, though)

Says the fellow who works for the carrier. ;)

Was Sally Ride a miltary pilot? And now I feel like crap for bringing up a tragedy.

she was a non-military scientist, mission specialist, apparently very much disliked, and was not aboard the Challenger for the 51L/disaster.

Second, an employer isn't going to think an OV-101 type rating is a high powered Bronco. This is also a bit of a giveaway.

Ha. You'd never convince me the interns or HR flunkies who screen applications would have the slightest clue what that is, you know, considering I didn't even know what the hell it was until I Lougled it..
