Kim,

We are all in SFB for our Quarterly meeting. I can ask Joe Fitzpatrick on what his needs are. Have you talked to Dwayne about this yet? He might give you some input too.

Got your hours yet? Hope you are doing well man...
Thanks for the kind words Fab. I am working at X-Jet and on my hours. Hope to be done soon. I would have been done much sooner, but I had to overcome the screw job my -X- did to me, so that really slowed me down.

I look to Phil who now works here at X-Jet and the screw job he recieved, but now he's doing quite well. Adversity can be overcome, if your willing to fight through it.

So did you like the Family Guy clips? I don't care what anyone says, THAT SEXY PARTY STUFF IS FUNNY!!!

Sounds about right talked to several students from there and most all are unhappy with the decision to go there and what sucks is once your name is on the contract they own you.....

Hey Fabio, I saw DCA's new add in Sky Magazine the other day and it said something about sim training at DL's sims in ATL. Is that true or more DCA BS?

Howard, supposedly it's true. My instructor had told me about it a while ago. If I remember correctly the student can't log it.

not true! they stopped that a while ago.

Well according to my instructor, who by the way is a group leader, he says it is something to come down the pike. It is supposed to be some kind of an addition to the bridge program, but then again he told me this in Feb.

Fludy has a point. We as students are being overcharged.
Example in point: We are supposed to get a 15 minute preflight brief before going out to preflight the aircraft and a postflight brief (which is usually done because they need our signature to get paid). We have not been getting preflight briefs since I started and it is required by DCA policy.
Which means all those lessons you've taken, you've paid for something which has not been delivered. I doubt very much that any of you made it through the Private course in the 26 lessons.... Most post flight briefings take less than 10 minutes... Do the math, you'll see your not getting your money's worth. Maybe it's time for the FAA to audit the school.
The aircraft are all 20+ years old.
With the new Cirrus coming in, it is my understanding that the new instructors are going to be charged to stands in that aircraft.... I think I know how Delta pulled itself out of bankruptcy now.... The instructors only get paid for "billable" hours, not the time they are there doing paperwork on their students and other company functions... I for one am looking elsewhere for schooling and for employment as an instructor. I've seen how the instructors are treated and when they are asked how it is to work for DCA, they change the subject. I've been in the working world for a while and have attended 2 colleges. Never have I been treated as poorly as I have at DCA.

Don't like it...leave!

I am..., there are better schools and less BS to deal with. If DCA if any representation of what's in store at the airlines... I won't work for them...
Besides, they're getting tighter and tighter with their services. Might as well start my own based on Virgin Atlantic's level of service.

Another point:
I went on an end of course leave and expected my roommate to be finished with private, he sat the whole time I was gone.
His flight instructor went to the international portion of the school and left him hanging... Talk about quality instruction and a school that cares for it's students...

I think it is time to write that letter to the FAA concerning their billing and scheduling. It would seem an audit is in order...

Good luck wherever you choose to go. It sounds like they still don't have a clue about the students being customers. SJS will keep the students coming through the revolving door.

Thanks Bubba, I'm looking to head north from here. Too hot and will probably go back to my home state to study there. 2 very good aviation schools there. It's just going to take longer and I get a degree too. A good thing about that is I can be closer to my aging parents (one of which fought with cancer last year) in case they need my help.

Yep, looks like not much has changed.

kaiyo4u: Going to the FAA about scheduling and billing won't get you anywhere. The only thing the Feds are concerned about are reg violations and safety. Your issues are customer service related- your best bet would be to make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

Hmmmmm! Another satisfied DCA customer. I was wondering kaiyo4u did you ever talk to April or Ron about your concerns, or even Fabio for that matter?

Hey your name wouldn't happen to begin with "D" does it?

I've talked with Ron, little has changed I learned early on that if you wanted anything done, don't go to April... Had some issues with student housing and left it in her hands, a week later things were still not resolved.
I did talk with Fabio, but, it seems as if things are very slow to change... The stands manual is explicit in getting a preflight brief as well as a post flight.... I am not very happy at the way things are handled.
Through instrument we had three grd school instructors and now I have another flight instructor... my other one got grounded and he was good.... this new one, I'm going in tomorrow to request another...
My group mgr, spineless and I don't trust him either.... If I could circumvent him in that process, it would be so much easier... I changed flight instructors after private to get a different perspective. He had 6 weeks, I repeat 6 weeks to line that one up. Then he whined about hard I was making it on him....
The public needs to know what is going on that academy...
