One of my instructors when I was doing my instrument airplane, I had asked him where he had done his training and he simply said "That place down in Florida." So I said, "Oh, Embry-Riddle huh?"
"No, the other place. . ." So here I go, naming off places, and he eventually said "I went to Delta Academy, and I'd rather not talk about it." In the best sarcastic tone ever.
Was quite comical. He didn't seem to like the place one bit, much less having it attached to his resume from here on out. Especially considering the amount of money he spent, and the debt he is carrying around.

I'm not that bitter about the old episode with Shawn Raker, DCA and Tracy Thomason, but it's certainly good to see that chapter closed.
A flight school pimping an airline's brand so bad, having their operatives press me into becoming one on their "Stepford Wives" and wonderful Shawn Raker imploring that I shut up or shut the website down was a fight that I was more than happy to take when push came to shove back in 2003.
Used car salesman techniques, talking big time smack behind my back, but vehemently denying it face-to-face and going so low as to go after my job because I refused to resort to being some animatronic robot and pimp the academy, among other things, well, let's just say there's going to be a double-cocktial in my future this evening which has nothing to do with New Years Eve.
Good riddance.
Over-promising, over-charging, and you guys left A LOT of people with six-figures of debt when we couldn't get to them first and show that there were other options to pursuing their career goals.
Shawn Raker, formerly of DCA, then CAPT, then FTSI (Flight Training Services International), I know you're reading this. There'll always be a place in my heart for a man who went through such great lengths and attempted to pull all the strings he could to bring down my website and blatant threats to have me fired if I didn't comply with... (ha!) your demands.
But it didn't work, did it.

We had a coupla ex-DCA guys at AriBen in Ft Pierce when I was there. They were full of stories about why they left, how people got ripped off, etc.
They could have just been bitter for some reason, I suppose, but I doubt the four of them were all just conspiring against DCA or whatever.

I remember (still CA) calling about my getting my CFI/I. The guy I talked to couldn't grasp that ALL I wanted was the training. I didn't want the "free" MEI, travel, blah blah blah. I had an offer already. I just needed the training. It was some ridiculous amount for the CFI. What a deal.

When I was investigating flight schools DCA was on my visit list. While waiting for the "tour" I witnessed a very heated exchange between a student and instructor that quickly exploded into profanity and shoving. I only caught a snippet but my impression was that there was an issue with being billed for time the CFI did NOT spend with the student. I had been there less than 10 minutes and quickly turned around and walked away. There were 6 or 7 us there that day ...I know at least 2 of them followed me out to the parking left and left as well.
Thank you DCA...the year I spent in Vero Beach was all because of you!

I was wondering why I had been getting so many calls from them in the last couple of months. Every call it was the same jersey shore used car salesman tactic despite my having told them that I was already doing my training somewhere else. Actually the last time he called I remember thinking, man I wonder if there about to go under, well now I know!
All I can say is good riddance...... you guys have no idea how close I came to drinking there kool-ade (loan app was filled out) and but not for the grace of god and the honest collection of opinions on this forum I would have been another 6 figure, debt carrying, cirrus flying drone. So thanks to everyone!

They guaranteed an interview? Not a guaranteed job? Not a guaranteed internship? But an interview?
Maybe I'm just naturally skeptical, or maybe I learned the hard way when I was younger not to be too gullible, but promising an intervew really isn't promising anything.
