Delta Career Expo: October 2 & 3 2018

Yikes. This is why drunk posting is a terrible idea. I don’t have Facebook anymore, but these posts really happened?!

Oh there's far, far worse.

Lets just say that there are people who use the resource to their best advantage and a hilarious amount of "self selection".

Hilarious when an applicant posted "Whoever is organizing this thing should be fired" was immediately read by a person who, well, does the firing and the hiring was not the most clever moment in aviation history.

People make the mistake of thinking they're dealing with college interns or that anything is private on Facebook.

For some of them who decide to go all out on the Delta FB page, they know the instant their app is pulled to be permanently trashed is the only time their app would have been pulled up by Delta anyway. So, they don't hold back. That's the only reason I can think of for the self-immolation.

Don't people realize that this is the crap FB is going through right now? That site collecting and mining personal info to sell to advertisers and other users, such as politics? Nothing is private......even with privacy settings. FB sees all, all that's on their site of course.

Even Elon Musk pulled his Tesla and SpaceX pages from FB.

No, they’re clueless as to who is reading their posts and who those recruiters are talking to at other airlines. After all, just about everyone seems to think that whatever they post online is protected by the 1stA.

Next job fair is October 2 and 3 2018.

Thanks for the info, Derg!

Couple of quick questions if you happen to be in the know...

Any idea if invites will only be extended to those who meet all Delta's minimum qualifications? I'll specifically be short: "Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time." I have more than enough turbine in rotor-craft, but will be a couple hundred short FW turbine in October.

Any tips (from you or anyone, really) on how to "tell the story" on an app or resume for 121 FO time? I definitely don't want to be the guy who's got the cut and paste "assist the Captain" stuff you warn about, but with less than a year in 121 all I've essentially done is get trained, learn the aircraft, and start to figure out how to 121.

Thanks!

Ian

The Bachelor, the ASA pilot? What happened?

The show's creators wanted to use images and video of a Delta or an ASA plane for their montages, and Delta and ASA both said 'no.' He was in the newhire pool at SW at the time (which considering that time was very difficult to get into) so I guess the show decided to use a bunch of SW images and videos and essentially portray him as a pilot for SW. SW didn't take kindly to that and kicked him out of the pool... hence why he remained an ASA pilot.

OMG that's brutal.
