Delta Air Lines

Can someone explain the AIR LINES thing and why @Derg uses "SJ"?

I had a great meme about our stroller incident but chose not to post do to conspiracy theories and the foil on my head. It was a good one though.

The Air Lines thing is a hold over from the 1920s/1930s. Back then all the carriers were Air Lines. When the government took over the mail routes, and subsequently gave them back to the airlines, any company that previously flew the mail was barred from bidding on the contracts. By changing "Air Lines" to "Airlines," United and American were considered new entrants and were allowed to bid. Since Delta never had any prior contracts, they didn't have to change.

Nah, it's pretty simple.

Delta Connection Academy, at the time, was using some marketing saying that they were the quickest/only/whatever way to a job at Delta Air Lines. Whereas on Jetcareers, we've always talked about a variety of different training options that civilian pilots could take advantage of to reach their career goals.

So there was this business development guy, also a pilot at SouthernJets, that took it upon himself to have me shut down Jetcareers because I, technically, was in violation of company policy by not extolling the virtues of DCA and they had some people leave class and in their exit interview said, "Well, I don't have to go to DCA to become a major airline pilot, and I can save a lot of money elsewhere, I heard it on JC".

So the big guns came out on both sides and it turns out that this person at DCA stepped WAAAAAAY outside of his bounds as well did someone else who rubber-stamped his demand and heads started rolling quickly and about the same time, there was a blogging flight attendant that got fired for whatever and her attorney tried to drag JC into their case because ALPA would supposedly spring into action and protect me and they could prove that the company had one way of treating one employee group over and above another.

My chief pilot, at the time, good friend and an ardent JC supporter said (paraphrased) "Hey man, if you just stop saying directly who you work for, you have the carte blanche to speak your mind and you don't have to worry about every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to constantly going after you for idiotic BS every couple weeks.

So, I work for SouthernJets International (or, Innanashnul) — when I got hired my fraternity brother asked, in a really bad fake southern accent, "You you like flyin' deem big o' southern jets in Lanna?" and it just… stuck.

What pains me is that I put my money (and my employment) on the line on several occasions and I don't think enough of you realize that I went to the flipping WALL (lawsuits, threats of being fire, etc) for this community so when I take some crap personal from time to time, this is where it comes from.

Believe me, 100% of other aviation webmasters would have hung it up when the first attorney fee hit or the very first call from HQ's area code.

Hell, don't even get me started on the FBI visiting my home on two different occasions with subpoenas over the last decade. If you don't believe me, I'll be more than happy to buy you a beer and let your peruse them. :)

SouthernJets, I can talk about whatever.

But if I mention my employer and speak AS an employee, my hands are understandably tied.

Need to have a beer with you someday.

Yikes. All of us at "Texas Jet" appreciate you doing that.

I average at least five "amma soo!" through email or PM which I largely ignore because they're empty threats because there is a particular process you have to follow and none of them involve email or, LOL, social media messaging.

Maybe one legit "cease and desist" every 24 months.

Generally speaking, the first person to yell "Merka! Freedom of speech!" Is generally the first one to threaten to sue you through Facebook Messenger because of what someone else said because they were smote.
