Does anyone else understand the 20% family fare discount?

I thought we could buy a ticket for other family and not just ourselves but travelnet tells me you can only buy it for the employee/spouse/parents/dependents and no one else...plus with buying the pass thru travelnet, you can't use just anyones fares, they'd have to be Delta fares...

is this correct??? I'm trying to see if i can find my sister a cheaper flight to phx and thought we could use the 20% discount for that?

Nope. Its only for people on the PPR. (You, Doug, Doug's parents, and your Kids if you had any) It also is not good for code share flights, i.e. DL7723 JFK-CDG operated by Air France.

Kristie, that is correct. DL Family Fares are only good for passriders listed by the employee, i.e. employee, spouse, dependants and employee's parents. The fare is 20% off Delta's lowest fare on the day of purchase. It's a good deal as long as you do it weeks or months in advance. The longer the wait the higher the fare. We used it for a friend's wedding because we had to be there (best man) and we didn't want to play nonrev roulette. There's always the buddy pass!:D

Thanks guys...

I offered to get her a buddy pass if she gets a refundable ticket cuz then we can play airline roulette and maybe she'd get her $$ back.

I've got a sloooooow connection. Damn you Comair IT!:banghead:

Thats what you get for working at a crap company.

Kristie: Imagine if you could get the 20% off fares for anyone, now Delta is selling half their seats for 20% off. FWIW I never used the Family fares program, but had it drilled into me during ticketing class. I could sell you one on a deltmatic terminal in about 2 minutes. (with a 25 dollar surcharge for doing it at the airport, but I could waive that for special people like you Kristie;))

i could give you a $25 tip then!

That's how i roll yo! :D

but no...i don't need the ticket, my sister does so that won't fly right now..later on tho, i might take you up on that offer! :)

Funny that you posted this. I tried to book a last-minute Family Fare for one of my parents on TravelNet and it wouldn't work. Kept getting a reservation error.
