Oh I had a headgear, bands, braces, the whole nine yards. I wore a retainer til I was 19, and to this day still have the metal band across the back of my lower teeth that they put in when I was 15. I have now had that piece of metal in my mouth for a longer duration of time (16 years) than I was years old when it was put in (15)! Yikes!

I had to do that as a kid, too.

Head gear, braces with rubber bands, retainers.

Ick.

Almost all of my baby teeth had to be removed surgically by the dentist, I only remember losing 2 the normal way. The rest were removed while I sat in a dentist's chair being told to sit still.

Thankfully, I never had to have braces. Nor did my sister.

As for what to call Doug: I've often thought about running into Doug at some airport and acting like some groupie:

"Ommigod-Ommigod-Ommigod- Duuuuuuuuuuuug!!! It's HIM! It's HIM! It's HIIIIIIIIM!!!" to some old lady next to me.
