DCI changes slowly starting to appear

Now that its basically one airline, we are starting to see big changes with airlines starting to fly in each others hubs. I guess Delta wants a little bit of each of us in each hub. I wish they would get over that comair strike. I was on dlnet and saw that starting in FEB Comair and Freedom are doing a significant amount of flying out of DTW that XJ and 9E have done for years - Compass, Pinnacle, and Mesaba will all be doing routes of ATL in FEB that ASA has done for years. places like SDF, SGF, FWA. Its such BS, why not leave us where we already are? Add in the fact that they move comair around continously and displace people all over the country, it just doesnt make sense.

There has always been shifts in flights, equipment and operators among DCI carriers even before the merger, but they didn't screw around much in other carriers bases. I can only speak for Comair, but apparently 13% of our flying going into the new year and into spring will be out of DTW. Comair already operates some flights out of MSP and DTW. We always had a few flights in/out of ATL. I only have access to the Delta schedule bulletins which shows changes going into the new year. I didn't see a whole lot of new routes, but mostly carrier changes, e.g. ATL-BNA replacing an ASA flight with SkyWest or Comair replacing Freedom on CVG-ALB. Not sure why they are doing this, especially if they depart the same time and same amount of seats, unless it has to do with fleet management/planning. I don't know. Delta utilizes it's DCI carriers in mysterious ways.

February is when the first part of the 20 ASA CRJ200 leave the DCI system for UAX. I believe this is why the shift of flying is going on due to additional coverage needed in ATL

Snork.

ASA still holds a % of all DCI flying in Atlanta. Switch em around all Delta wishes.

Perhaps that's the only saving grace in our contract with daddy.

From the December 2009 bid packet. Here are the cities served (CRJ-200 Only) by Comair from...

MSP-ATW, CVG, TUL, DAY, OMA, DSM

DTW-CVG, GSO, ORF, DAY, SDF, CMH, ROC, CLE, BHM, BDL, HSV, PHL, PIT, OMA, BGR

Out of MEM lot's of SDF flights.

There are quite a few trips that look like this where you won't even see CVG until you return the last day.

FR 6577 CVG-SDF
FR 4445 SDF-MEM
FR 4443 MEM-SDF
FR 4444 SDF-MEM
FR 4447 MEM-SDF

SA 4445 SDF-MEM
SA 4443 MEM-SDF
SA 5092 SDF-DTW
SA 5099 DTW-ORF

SU 5077 ORF-DTW
SU 5062 DTW-DAY

Heh, Pinnacle has two old Comair birds. Please. Take them back. Seriously. I don't think they've made it out of MX long enough to do a revenue flight. :) I had 455CA today, and I had to defer something, then go back to the gate for ANOTHER issue. I blocked nearly an hour, and I never left the ground. All this after it's been in the hangar forever, had a service check done THAT morning and two or three test flights.

Smart of Comair to lease the bad birds to Pinnacle, though. We'd probably have done the same thing if we were getting slapped around by Delta and had to lease planes to a competitor.

I think almost every DCI carrier has a few old Comair birds in their fleet. SkyWest, ASA, Mesaba and now PNCL.

I've flown N455CA! That bird is 7 years old. Got to remember, Comair has some of the oldest CRJs around.

455 Thats a youngin', Hell that's even a -200.

Now if they tossed 7011 or 7013 over then there might be a beef over sending old planes.;) Those 900 series -100 are now pushing 17 years old.

Gotta love those 15+ year old seats where the support for the bottom cushion was a sagging piece of nylon, and the back was so worn that the bar that the seat reclined at was jamming into the middle of your back. I don't miss those on the 3 hour flights to CVG.

ASA does have two old Comair -200's, but they were never expected to be put into revenue service anyway. Spares to be cannibalized as MTC needed.

ASA has more than two Comair birds! What about all those -700s? ;)

You guys stole our flying and airplanes!!! ARGH!!! :D j/k

I've flown 455 also.

There are quite a few birds that have flown the coup to other airlines thats for sure. For better or worse.

I'm still wondering about ship 7011.
The 2 rumors are that it may go to the museum in IAD
or
chopping block at Bombardier.

I asked some reps at the museum, and still dont have an official word back yet.

455CA was in flying condition when it left CVG with minimal MELs. Anything happened after it left CVG is on Pinnacle!;) Delta chose which aircraft to get transfered over to PCL, XJ, and ASA.

7011 is a leased a/c, so we have no control over what happens to it, though it has been discussed that we suggest to the leassor that it would be a nice donation to make to the Smithsonian.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if the cannibalized it for parts, then hit the "Oh CRAP! We need this back together QUICK!" One of our mechanics was just standing behind it at the gate the other day staring at it and shaking his head. :)
