DCA and Broward Community College

Another big question i was wondering is if that I would feel like i'm attending DCA, or BCC. Just curious, if i choose DCA at broward CC i want to feel like i'm in the DCA environment, any thoughts?

The atmosphere at one of the DCA college bases is more laid back than at the main base in Sanford. However, it doesn't mean you won't get the same great training. If you are still woking on a degree, this program really works well.

BTW, are you currently attending MDCC and looking elsewhere?

I just graduated H.S., I am looking elsewhere, but I am registered at both BCC and MDC to cover my bases, I think BCC and DCA is going to be the final choice. I have a month before both programs start, but im leaning torward broward heavily.

Just make sure you get a four year bachelors degree or don't bother at all!

If you're a fresh high school graduate, I would not suggest a community college unless you're using it to transfer to a bachelors degree.

But I'm sure I'm stepping on someone's toes somewhere with the above statements.

almost all the students that do the degree program in Broward use it to get a 4 years toward an online ERAU degree... you get a load of credit for your licenses and I think all the credit in the degree. Anyone feel free to correct me. At BCC you have a hard time to become an instructor if you are, at least, not working toward a degree. That alone tells a lot about the attitude toward a degree.

But THANKS for reminding us!!!!

The typical student in Sanford is in his high twenties and a degree.

Check out this page. I've been beating that drum for more than seven years pre-forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Gah! I need to update that page one day...

that Aviation Degree will be soooo useful in the real world if you get furloughed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re-read RPM's response to your same comment a month ago. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I could list several examples as did RPM. The important aspect is that you get a degree, regardless of what it is in.

Yeah, and Im sure that Economics or Political Science degree you may get is going to be a big help when your in your 40's, furloughed and have no experience in any other field other than flying.

still a lot more useful than your comment… /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have a Business degree and it isn’t that very useful either. My point was that you get many credits for your flying and you can meet that 4 years degree requirement fairly easily and fairly cheaply in a rather short time. In general I am also for a degree in something other than aviation, but this degree is very doable and you won't lose 4 years doing just that.

It is allover that seniority is everything. The priority is to get a four years degree and the flight training and minimums to apply in the shortest possible time. A degree in an unrelated field is great, but if that will throw you back another 2 years compared to the one that you can get sooner than that is also another factor to think about. It may still be a wise choice, but it depends on the individual. You can get a backup degree in whatever if it won't make you happy at all.

News flash for you: Some people may like aviation related activities that are not necessary related to flying.

But while you go to papi&mami's flight school I am sure you can get your Law degree full time and quality training too. No problems at all.

BTW an engineering degree can be easily transferred (at least partially) toward another engineering degree that has nothing to do with aviation. I wish I had an engineering in aviation right now so I could easily work toward an advanced degree in Computer Engineering which I would love to do. As it is with my awesome BBA I can get a MBA in accounting if I don't want to start over from scratch. I am really not that happy about that and I really would not want to work as an accountant in case I lose my medical. I am trying to get away from job like that, however I would not mind writing code. It all depends on what you like to do.

But the problem still is, just like chrisdahut said, if you are 50 and have not been in the field for 20 years, you can have an MBA from a quality university and still not get a job.

Guess that never occurred to you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
