DC8 Video, funny in a way, sad in a way....

Can't quite see the letters on the door good enough.

What does the captain talk so goofy? I'd like to jumpseat on their DC-8 for a flight or two.

There's a second or two where the captain's instruments are shown and the N-number placard is below the airspeed indicator.

"atleast they get down to bussiness for landing"

Well...not really.

You're not supposed to hear "glideslope", or even worse, "sink rate" in the flare. Plus, the camera angle suggests the F/E may be sitting in the left forward jumpseat durning the landing. I get the impression they weren't stabilized at 1000 feet nor aligned with the runway. Maybe they don't have the same "stabilized approach" numbers that we do.

man...that's gotta be one of the funniest aviation clips i've seen. On a side note...why could something like this get you fired?

It looks like the guy reading the before landing checklist is a different guy than Lee, the one at the F/E panel during cruise. And there's someone's head below the camera and behind the captain. Maybe there were five people in there.

It could get me fired cause UPS prohibits cameras on the property.

It could get them fired if their behaviour crossed the line with Arrow Air management. I mean, this is really pretty bad. What if it was a Delta 767 crew making the video with a plane load of pax in the back. Would you find that acceptable? Neither would the cheif pilot.

If you made a video like this of you screwing around in the tower cab, would it get you fired?

Not to get too sidetracked here, but I'm curious. Is there any particular reason you can't have a camera with you at UPS? I suppose anyone could keep it packed away in their rollaboard and not mention having it if they want it for a neat layover city or something.

In cruise over the Pacific with nothing to do I don't see the harm in pulling out a camera and taking a picture of another plane above or below with a contrail that looks cool. The alternative is reading or sleeping.

Ah ha! I do agree...i'd be really uncomfortable if it knew the pilots were screwing around up there.

"I got on some stttripes and sh*t on my shhhoulders. I'm pretty d#mn much in charge of this thing..." :banghead: Yeah folks...that's the kinda captain i want flying me around! :sarcasm:

No cameras...period? I suppose that includes still frame cameras? (I'm not sure what we call them anymore...you know, the kind that used to have film in them and you'd take them to the photo shop to be developed!)

A couple of things. Basically, if the company prohibits usage of cameras on company property, then you film yourself on company property, voila, there's photo evidence.

A lot of airlines (all? I'm not sure) prohibit use of portable electronic devices below 10,000 feet. So if you've got a video that you've filmed landing or taking off, and you clearly identify yourself, you can incriminate yourself.

Flying passengers, they can be even more anal. All it takes it one bored news anchor team with recorded footage of some tomfoolery "...with 218 lives in their hannnnnnds" and the media would eat it up.

Remember, you're a pilot and the general public holds you to a higher standard. Plenty of 18-wheeler drivers get caught on DUI's every day, but when a single pilot gets caught, it's national news.

He is the cheif pilot...
