David Clark Military to Civilian Adapter

I have a David Clark from my days as a Loadmaster I want to use for civvy flying. I have googled the snot out of the net to try and find an adapter.

The only ones I find is on the David Clark website for $126. Anyone know of any cheaper? That seems a bit steep for a cable.

I also found this one at the OregonAero Site: http://www.oregonaero.com/products/products.aspx?ID=199
What does it mean that it does not amplify? Will I need it to?

Doe your headset have one plug or two? If it is like our helo DCs, all you need is a very simple, inexpensive adapter. I'll see if I can find one online.

It has one...However, from reading online, there seems to be a difference from Helo headsets and Military headsets. The HELO impedence is high just like GA aircraft. The Military headset is low impedence, so I need an adapter that converts the one plug to two AND amplifies the impedence.

Anyone feel free to chime in if I am right because I am still not completely sure. I do remember someone saying a military headset is 4OHM and GA is 8OHM once though.

Ahh... in that case, I have no clue. Good luck.

hmm, I converted mine, I had a the mil - ga cord, but I also had to buy an electronic mic in order for it to work properly, total cost was around $90. Be careful, loadmaster, I did some looking around mypilotstore dot com and found this note for the low to high impedence cord:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]This will not work with the David Clark H10-76. If you want to convert a H10-76 or H10-76XL you will need the electret mic and the JB-08 adapter.

If i remember right, a friend of mine tried the same cord, and it didnt work. If you follow the link above, that is what I bought for my david clarks, and it works like a champ.

P.S. I'm willing to bet we probably have the same headsets, but check the P/N on the headsets, mic, cord, everything, make sure they match up before you buy this stuff.

Just a quick follow up....
I was able to test out the mike and adapter in a C-172 yesterday. Everything worked. The mike made me sound a little quiet though. Still, not a bad deal; $90 for a DC headset.

I remember buying mine years back att he now defunct Airman Flight School. Keep in mind that it needs to have the orignal MIC switched back. If your jet was like mine (E-3) our life support dept. would outfit them with different mics. If it looks like a large investment I would say screw it, and look elsewhere. Though you can never have 2 many headests
