Daughter of the Texas plane crash Pilot says...

The media dismissed his letter as if it was the ramblings of a psychopath, however, the letter was written well, and clear, and did not in any way portray the guy as a lunatic. He told his story and made it clear how he got F'd by the government over and over. He stated how he has never seen the government do anything that he knew would make life better for him and many other americans like him. He also said how when a big issue came up, he did the right thing, spending thousands of hours and dollars writing every senator, congressman, or person of authority that he could, and never hearing a word back, because the fact is that the government doesn't care about its citizens, only themselves. He knows that no person (or even group of people) can ever be heard, and he realized that it is unfortunate that a body count is the only way to be heard in the slightest. The letter made sense, and he has the same point of view as many people in this country.

It is unfortunate that the media doesn't cover stories as they should, and just dismissively call him a psychopath when he was a guy who had the balls to do what he felt was right in accordance with his beliefs, whether he was wrong or not in the eyes of society.

Sane, rational people don't fly airplanes into buildings. He was just another paranoid that flew off the handle, he just happened to do it in a creative way.

My point, though, is that the media said his LETTER was basically rambling and psychotic. It wasn't, even if his government drove him, as a person, to be.

He was psychotic.

Psychosis is a loss of contact with reality, usually including false ideas about what is taking place or who one is (delusions) and seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations).

Abnormal displays of emotion
Confusion
Depression and sometimes suicidal thoughts
Disorganized thought and speech
Extreme excitement (mania)
False beliefs (delusions)
Loss of touch with reality

Mistaken perceptions (illusions)
Seeing, hearing, feeling, or perceiving things that are not there (hallucinations)
Unfounded fear/suspicion

What beliefs of his were false, and which perceptions were mistaken? All I saw was his letter and he had plenty of agreeable points. Did you read it and come to this conclusion?

People can defend where he was coming from, but some stuff in the letter sounded like it was written by a psychopath.

People don't sanely write "If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, “Why did this have to happen?” The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time." and "Joe Stack (1956-2010)"

I just couldn't see myself sanely writing the year of my impending death.

If dying in pursuit of a greater cause is psychotic, we have a lot of psychos buried in Arlington. Not that I think the guy's action was in any way justifiable, or even useful. But I don't think suicide is by its very nature "psychotic".

Hey, I am all for people offing themselves to prove a point. It's that's the way you want to roll...roll on! When you decide to take someone with you is when I start to have a very real problem. I'm pretty sure the government employee that lost his life because of this d-bag would probably not have been as motivated and dedicated to the cause if he knew he was going to die that die.

Prove your point...leave the innocent alone.

In the dude's eyes, the employees of the IRS are not innocent. I happen to disagree, but it's not like he's crazy, he's just wrong. Painting your opponents as crazed psychopaths is the surest way to lose perspective.

Agree completely. It IS just a little bit crazy though, to think that the average GS-6 IRS employee is sitting in some back room laughing diabolically while sifting through your money

There are actually lots of people who are really treating him like a martyr to their cause.

Seriously? Have we came to this as a country?

Have for a while now.

Need to see a couple disillusioned service members circa 2003/2004. Enlisting to help the "crusade."

Dude was a terrorist. Plain and simple. I see no difference between him an Atta.

Dont forget about all the "terrorist" that came over here on a boat and settled the colonies.

I read in the paper the other day that something like 70% of Americans want to replace every single member of congress. Thats a lot of people that are pissed at the government. The bad part is, I'd be willing to wager that most people will either not vote at all or vote for the person with the most name recognition- the incumbent.

Everyone in this country wants change, but nobody wants to even do so much as to go out and cast a ballot. In the 1700's some guys got it in their mind that they wanted change so badly that they would die for it.

Now, i dont agree with what the guy did, but I dont think he was a terrorist or psychotic either. Whats the difference between a psychotic terrorist and a patriot? I don't know, but i'd bet that we're probably going to see more people like this.

The difference between a terrorist and a patriot is this. Patriots throw tea overboard a ship. Terrorist sink the ship and the crew. Patriots burn effigies of tax collectors. Terrorists burn the tax collector. In 1774 some men took a stand and said no more. You wont be allowed to cross this line. History would have been a lot different if in the same year those same men said you will not cross this line, and to make sure we are going to kill you and your family.

I guess my point is tar and feathering is a lot different than crashing an airplane into them.

So would it EVER be appropriate to do something like this? Let's say he had hit instead the office of one of the bank CEOs or board members who gambled with massive amounts of other peoples' money, lost it, and laughed all the way to the bank. I think we can all agree that they were evil as hell.

I dont think the birth of our country was that civilized.

Let me play devil's advocate. Who does more damage to a country, a guy crashing a Cherokee into an IRS building, or an entire group of people who sit back and take it from their government with no lube? How is someone supposed to bring about change these days, writing their congressman? Haha, yeah. People have began to accept things as the status quo. Government is crooked, and thats just the way it is. The more complacent and apathetic people become, the bigger the slap in the face it takes to snap them out of it. No one notices a letter to the editor anymore, but people sure notice a plane going into a building.

Do you think anyone would complain if "some psycho" went out and shot all the board member of AIG or Enron? Theres a special place in Hell for people like that.

It must have been "terrorists" that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima then; leaving thousands of civilians dead?

Just saying, everyone is "innocent" to someone.
