Damn, F-15 Down

Just saw the AF times article, 17 years and 2300 hours in one of God's jets, patch wearer, multiple combat tours, unbelievable, him him. On a personal level if someone that good can have it happen, then it can happen to any of us, even in something as benign as a Herk.

That should not be a new realization for any aviator. For those JCers that don't know and internalize this fact, do so NOW.

Of course I know it on an intellectual level, but I guess it's not something I inernalize before every sortie. I speak up when infeel uncomfortable for sure, and there have been a few times when we pulled into chocks and I thought to myself "we were putting together a lot of links in the chain and maybe got a little lucky", and I'll bring it up in debrief if no one else does... all that to say, the kind of credentials he held are insane and really put it flying in perspective in a way I don't offen think about, probably even less so at the airline gig since there's so much less going on than during the average tac sortie. Anyway enough rambling, again RIP.

I have sat beside and behind some really talented pilots with good decision-making skills ......that have almost killed me. Those lessons were not lost on this very average pilot.

My thoughts are with the family, friends, and squadron mates of this pilot.
