DAL AE Results?

Bluto

New Member
I'm trying to gather all available information. What are the junior domiciles at DAL? How long does it take to get out west like SLC/LAX as a newhire? Are there any equipment locks as a newhire? Is there a continual bid process or would a newhire today have to wait until the next AE bid to transfer out of LGA or ATL? Thanks for any information.

Everything is fairly junior, seriously.

How long does it take to get out west like SLC/LAX as a newhire?

A couple months and you should have the base of your choice.

Are there any equipment locks as a newhire?

None.

Usually you have to wait until the next AE.

A fresh bid came out today, here are some basics:

ATL 777 CA: 1987 hire
NYC 777 CA: 1988 hire
ATL 767-400 CA: 1989 hire
ATL 767ER CA: 1991 hire
LAX 767ER CA: 1991 hire
NYC 767ER CA: 1991 hire
ATL 767 CA: 1991 hire
CVG 767 CA: 1990 hire
LAX 767 CA: 1997 hire
SLC 767 CA: 1988 hire
CVG 73N CA: 1989 hire
LAX 73N CA: 1997 hire
ATL M88 CA: 1999 hire
CVG M88 CA: 1991 hire
NYC M88 CA: 2000 hire
SLC M88 CA: 1997 hire

ATL 777 FO: 2007 hire
NYC 777 FO: 2000 hire
ATL 767-400 FO: 2001 hire
ATL 767ER FO: 2007 hire
LAX 767ER FO: 2007 hire
NYC 767ER FO: 2007 hire / new hire position
ATL 767ER FO: 2007 hire
ATL 767 FO: 2007 hire
CVG 767 FO: 2007 hire
LAX 767 FO: 2007 hire
SLC 767 FO: 2007 hire
CVG 73N FO: 2007 hire
LAX 73N FO: 2007 hire
ATL M88 FO: 2007 hire / new hire position
CVG M88 FO: 2007 hire
SLC M88 FO: 2007 hire

There may be more junior people in each position already in the category, but those are the results of the last AE posted a few minutes ago.

There may have been some categories left "unbid", but I'm not sure. Plus, the category list for 2008 just got released, but the numbers listed above are fairly close. Some captain seats MAY be more junior because of pilots already scheduled for training from the last bid but I haven't looked.

Just a correction...ATL 777 FO went to a December 2000 hire.

The last class before furloughs was July 2001

And after the dust settled I moved up a whopping 8 numbers in category.... although I think 3/4 of the people below me bid out of NY.

Reserve is bad. Nobody wants it and every category has very junior people because of it. Is most instances you can make as much as a senior copilot as a junior captain, with more days off.

If you are considering a career with Delta, move to Atlanta or New York. You will have a fabulous career with lots of options.

Which is pretty much the case with every airline out there. Not a knock on Delta at all... This is more just a comment to all those considering an airline career, that being a senior FO living in base will always have some of the highest quality of life in the shortest period of time. I sometimes am jealous of my FOs...

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses.

Just to make sure I understand you, are you suggesting that the West-Coast domiciles are less stable, or just more senior? I'm willing to move, but if I didn't have to that'd be an added bonus. I appreciate everyone's responses.

Probably because whether you go to heaven or hell, it's going to involve a connection in ATL.

Considering that Delta heavily dominates ATL, it's probably your safest bet.

Bases come and go. Get bigger, get smaller. Go senior, but suddenly go amazingly junior.

When I was a new hire, LAX was hella senior. Now, you can't swing a cat around the pilot lounge and not scratch a gaggle of new hire pilots looking for the crew lounge! :)

I was one of those lost souls in LAX 2 weeks ago when I snagged that out of base greenslip... I probably looked like a lost puppy wandering off that 767-400 into an terminal I had never been anywhere near before, haha.

"Durrrr....where's ops??" "

"...and where's food?? .... that is maybe halfway decent"

All this right before a coast to coast redeye. :)
