Absolutely loved Edinburg and the highlands. Coming home was hard.

My wife and I did Edinburgh on a 4 day weekend.

The Monday we were sitting in the airport we were both furious we hadn’t taken more leave to see more of Scotland.

I came back and told my commander who was going to take more leave than he had planned. He did a week long bus tour up one side and down the other staying at different whisky bed and breakfast stops and had a waaaay better experience than I got. I’ve been back twice but only to Glasgow/Prestwick.

I got the vibe it’s one of those places you’ll be happy doing either. We honestly didn’t have a super full itinerary for the full week, ended up going to the same areas a few times and just generally kind of wandered around, and we still had a great time. Every time I come home from over there I’m insanely jealous of how walkable everything is.

I wish I knew, I’ve got a god friend who moved from Texas to Edinburgh (EEEEEEEE’dnBURRAH) after he retired from SouthernJets and married a local. He’s always down for a cocktail.

It’s always a great reset.

When I travel I always discover something new about the world and it broadens my expectations. Then I get a little homesick, come back and think “Man, we’re kind of hosed, aren’t we?”
