Iron Eyes Cody portrayed native Americans in Hollywood from the 1930s until his death in 1999 at age 94. The 1971 PSA is what we all remember, although he appeared in over 200 films and TV episodes.

He was actually an Italian-American, born Espera Oscar de Corti in Louisiana, but by the time he went to Hollywood, he embraced the indian lifestyle off-screen, dressing in fringes and mocasins and wigged as we remember him, and claiming a variety of tribes and names as his origin. He and his wife adopted two indian children.

It's hard to cry with just one eye (unless it's a reaction to a foreign body in your eye). I don't know if they wiped his other eye, or the tears are glycerine or Visine.
