That's not an awkward airplane, that's the path to a bigger, better jet. Just put up with the weirdness for a while, and keep your fingers away from the fire ext buttons. It's a little odd but it's a good airplane.

I respect it for being a good cabin for its range and fuel burn, but you'll never convince me that it's pretty.

Yeah, figured the "Golden Jet" would have been the one-beginning of the jet age, really the halcyon days of Continental IMO.
