Flew this nice pacer from MO to NM where the starter went out on my way to OR.
Conversion. That one was done right so that it kept going straight after touchdown. The only thing that I didn't like about it in the 3 landings and 9 hours I have in that one, was that it ran out of aileron way too soon in a crosswind. Had to make a last second conversion to a wheel landing with a bunch of power to keep the wing down and us going straight. I will add it to my list of possible first airplanes to own though.Hey looks like a neat trip! Sorry you had some problems along the way. I have a pacer, love it! Original pacer or a tri conversion?
Negative on the airport, this is all off strip flying up in Nunavut and the North West Teritories in Canada's Arctic.Wow that is cool! Is that even an airport? Looks like somewhere really cold, northern Canada???

Awesome! Love widgeons too. Grumman amphibs are a dream of mine. I have always tried to remain in the GA world while still doing the airline thing, but hope to do the seaplane thing at some point. I feel like a widgeon would be a good place to start in the multi sea world. Would really love to have a goose some day...
Really? Nobody told me that. Haha. I did that last second 3pt to wheel conversion when I saw I wasn't going to have enough aileron for the wind. Wasn't really a big deal. The previous owner recommended to me that if I was going to wheel land it, to trim it forward so that when you touch down you just release the back pressure to pin it on. He mostly 3-pointed it as well though. My original owners manual from the conversion says wheel landings not recommended, so I've never tried it. Not a big fan of them in general anyways. How does it do?

I need to find a job like that
Hey adler, do you know if anyone does Multi-sea ratings anywhere? I live in the PNW so Alaska is within reach too...
I did mine in Florida; not sure of what there is up in Alaska, but I'd bet there's some good ones.
Check this out.

Speaking of the Grumman seaplanes. I didn't have my camera out the other day, but I more or less got buzzed by an Albatross in Ft. Pierce. It was cool to see a seaplane that big fly right by.
Was it this Albatross ?
