Still going through pictures from my trip to Gettysburg a couple of weeks ago...

This one turned out better than I originally thought.

Thanks, I am trying to decide what to get next. I have an old Cannon 35mm film Rebel with a couple of Sigma AF lenses. I know i can run those lenses on the new Cannon but with the image stab built into the new lenses is it worth it? What is your opinon on Cannon vs Nikon. I personally see more people with Nikons than I do Cannons around the airports.

What does P&S mean?

The Nikon D300s is probably overkill. Any recommendations in the sub $1000 lineup ($500-$999 range)?

Thanks and keep the pics coming

P+S is point and shoot, ie low(er) end digital, used in full auto for quick captures and when you don't have a lot of space for storage.

I went with the D90 which was about $1300 with a lens. Entry level DSLR, but full featured and turns out some nice shots. I'm also currently using about 30% of it's full capabilities.

maybe you can tutor me on the D90 to get me to 30% sometime this winter...

Nikon vs canon is a worse debate than iPhone vs whatever. They both make great cameras, personal preference really. Usually once you start with one company you stick with it for lens compatability.

For that price range, you can get a great camera with either of them. Save money for glass, it's more important then the body.

Check out b+h photo. Out of the reliable, legit online dealers, they are the best I've found, price and service wise.

Sponge Bob has gotten a little graphic now hasn't he...

I know i'll probably get in trouble for this, but I can see it now...

"Mommy, what is that between Spongebob's legs?"

"Well son, that's his fun basket. If you get his fun basket nice and hot, it really gets Spongebob off, the ground...)
