Oldies but goodies and likely worth a look.

Not sure at this point how to actually post the pictures instead of the URL from Flickr, but I'll learn!

Only information my father jotted on the back of each photo was "1945" and a crude smiley-face. Most of his service in WWII was in the E.T.O. as a combat engineer, but his discharge papers indicate a short time spent in the Pacific Theater, where these photos were taken.

Both Dad and Mom walk the streets of eternity now, or the dim recesses of memory, so the specific details of time, place and people are lost to the past.

You should see mosquitoes in central Kamchatka... you'd need a shotgun. And if you have a dog keep it close, they'll try to steal it.

It's not just "me" that thinks Spokane can be hood...one doesn't acquire the nicknames of "Spookaloo", "Spokompton" and "Spokanistan" by chance. Granted it's not as "hood" as DTW, but then again, I'm not sure I've been anywhere more hood than DTW.

We've had crew members mugged, assaulted (hit in the head, and her iPhone stolen while she was on the run), etc...so it would seem to me to use more caution/know surroundings.

*Spokane is rated the 3rd most dangerous in WA...(Yakima, where we also overnight, is #2...lovely)

Does anyone know what these are? There are three fields that look like big grass strips south of Klamath Falls OR. Each has a building in the middle. Training area?

Got to log SMO in my logbook and paid the price the next morning trying to leave...1.7 on the ground for a hold for release, apparently a 206 is "too slow" to depart with other traffic when it's overcast 1000 feet! Well worth it. Guy in the baron told SMO tower the boss was on board and didnt want to wait like poor people..maybe departed 30 minutes before me.
