Hi everyone! So I went home this weekend and did the "Let's go somewhere for Labor Day that isn't the beach" thing, only to my mum and pop. They were more than enthusiastic about traveling, originally wanting to rent bikes and ride Lehigh Valley...but we opted to get on the early flight to Buffalo/Niagara Falls.

Of course no trip to Philly would be complete without an eastbound transition starting at King of Prussia and backing you up all the way to freaking New Castle DE...God Bless the BOJID. It's been in effect for so long I've practically got it memorized. Well, those eastbound backups mean you get some good views of my alma mater down below...
So, the next day we head out nice and early, get to Philly, head out the door and get on....a Dash!

After arriving into Buffalo we grabbed a car and headed west toward Grand Island, where I have not been since I was either 7 or 8 years old. Once we crossed the bridge my dad decided "Let's go into Canada and get lunch." ... Guess that decision was made, since he was driving...

Well we get to Canada, and there are people
everywhere. It took about 45 minutes from entry to parking. I'll have to do this again with another day to spare! Anyway, on the left here is the Canadian hydroelectric plant, built in (1882?) ....It's THE first hydroelectric plant, together with the sister plant on the American side. I'll need to read up on it again but we toured them 20 years ago; unfortunately, no tours due to the holiday this day.

Here's a better shot of Niagara Falls, ON, with Skylon Tower visible in the shot on the right.

The American Falls, on the left, and the Bridal Veil Falls, on the right, from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Thanks to the curvature of the Earth, and not wanting to hang around with 70,000 tourists, all shots of Horseshoe Falls came out horribly backlit.

They didn't honk. Too bad.

Where we ate. They had an
awesome beer list.
In summary - Go to Niagara Falls. It's such a beautiful, American attraction, you have to go to another country to appreciate its glory.
