Great to see that aircraft with a new operator. Formely from Sol Lineas Aereas, it flew to my home airport regularly. I live in the southernmost part of S. America (lat 54S), and now I see this bird in the other pole!!

A really great book that talks about the Lituya wave (and many others).

I will have to check that book out. Lituya is an special place, I was lucky to be able to do a lot of outer coast flying when I lived in up there. I don't think #TeamJNU gets to do much of that adventure flying anymore.

One year I picked picked a group up off the beach under the high water mark, having to taxi most of the bay in the fog while there was a series of earth quakes. The next year dropping the same group off the beach they had camped on was under a torrent of water as a lake up in the glacier blew out under the ice and filled the bay like a slushie.

It is quite aways away up here! This particular plane was never delivered to Sol. It was Mesaba, then was going to go to Sol, but came to Penair instead.

Soooo, this is the famous one that wasn't delivered due to, um, cash shortage. In other news, the entire APLA union (which conglomerates AR, LAN Ar, SOL, and other little airline pilots) is declaring a strike in support of the crews fired from SOL as a result of a inminent bankruptcy.

This is the one! Sounds like things are crazy down there.
