Ewww...still looked best in the black-top livery me thinks.

30R was closed for a day and a half at SJC and I happened to be down there. As you can tell from these shots, you can get reaaaaaal close to 30L, SJC is very photographer friendly despite the recent security incidents, they seem to understand an extra set of eyes is a good thing. Anyway, 30L departures are so rare my last shot of one is on film from 2003! Here are a random couple I edited:

Southwest New Mexico One 737-700 N781WN pan shot at SJC

New Mexico One motion blur shot, standing that close to the runway you get a lot of nervous looks from passengers. :)

Southwest 737s pass at San Jose

A shot like this at SJC is a lot more rare than you would think, caught him casting a shadow on the guy holding short.

ANA Boeing 787-8 JA813J landing at SJC

Ever sexy Dreamliner. I was "creative" and found a spot with some pesky "Private Property" signs to catch this shot from. A cop came rolling up just about right away, but he made a U-turn as soon as I got in my car.

Southwest Shamu Boeing 737-700 N715SW at SJC

Good thing the cop came by, I moved to my normal spot just in time to see Shamu taxiing out and dash to the perimeter fence like a maniac. :)

USMC Cessna Citation 165939 landing at SJC

Didn't know the Marines had any Citations until I shot this guy. Cool looking bird, based in San Diego I'm assuming. Interesting antennas on top, anyone know anything about this plane?

Basically a VIP transport with radios that can talk to other fast movers.

AKA, a way for O6's and above to still maintain flight pay. (Don't blame them, it's nice after several years)

Cool, thanks for the info. I don't blame them. If I made a career out of military flying, I'm sure after a while a less complex transport gig would be nice.

It's an extra $840/ month to have a valid military aviation medical. (To keep it simple, and after 14 years of aviation service as an officer) $585 after 22 years.

I went down to PNS to try to meet Sadie, at Innisfree, however she had the weekend off. Lucky dog. @nocturnalaviator I'm pretty sure I saw you preflighting your whip. If not I was chatting with you inside.

Either way, I was treated to a T6II doing a GPS approach ahead of me. I snapped about a billion photos, and this one was the only one to turn out somewhat decent.

Next weekend comes gratuitous UH60 pictures.

Don't have any Volaris A320 pics at SJC, so I got up at what might as well be dawn for me to shoot it. Got some of the shots from my last post, then Volaris comes over and no click on the camera when I press down. CF card full! Deng it Bobbeh! Quickly deleted a pic as it was passing over and only got one shot off. I was pissed, but I went to edit it and noticed this amazing reflection and cropped the shot despite how soft that made it. You can see the wing and gear out over the runway with the shadow chasing behind. Very cool!

I don't know why you get excited about them, pretty common to us Mexico residents.

Went for a walk to go get dinner and we followed a bunch of drunk people yelling FREEBIRD!!! Turns out Skynyrd was playing a free show...

We really did manage to fit work into our busy schedule too.

Not easy to catch in the Bay Area. OAK is inaccessible, they only fly a daily flight into SJC when lighting is the worst and right above all the planes so they're back-lit everywhere lol.

Always wondered why they rock an "N" instead of an "X," then have a Mexican flag right next to it. Flew them in June, worst experience/operation ever.

Most of their planes are probably like Aeromexicos and Mexicana's and registered in the US to leasing companies or what not. Aeromexico has some planes with Irish "EI" registrations, including "EI-DRE" and "EI-DRO" which make me giggle at work, and Mexicana had some French "F" reg's which included F-OHME I shot a few times. I wonder if those are on-purpose.
