That looks like the dish off of Mullholand, but I see too much water for it to be SoCal.
 
an old friend i used to ski race with was in steamboat. his daughter was competing in the freestyle junior nationals. these kids are sick today, going so huge, airing it out higher than the chairlift on the hill-

That looks like the radio antennae just outside of Snowshoe, WV. If it is that one, it is or at least was back in 2005, the largest moveable radio dish with the largest single ball bearing in the country, or maybe it was the world. I can't remember but impressive nonetheless.

Yeah, it's Green Bank, WV. Home of the worlds largest steerable radio array telescope. The entire valley is a radio blackout zone so there is less interference when the dish listens. I went on a tour there about 10 years ago. Neat place.

And the other picture is the approach end of 34 at AVL. We were sitting out a 20 minute wait to go to CLT and there was a T38 doing practice approaches to the runway. I of course didn't get my camera out in time to catch the -38 but got that picture.
