DA42 "Twin Star"

I got the chance to look at one on the ramp the other day for the first time. First thing I noticed is the props feel like they are made out of plastic. Actually the entire plane felt like that. I couldn't believe how flimsy it felt.

ummm...it is made out of plastic. the props are wood core with composite coating.

What is the best study guide (book or CD ROM) to help me increase my knowledge on using glass cockpits , FMs, etc such as this? The one thing I wish I would have done when looking for a flight school was find one that had A/C with glass instrumentation!

Hawkers have a weeping wing setup also.

Kinda retarded if you ask me, but hey, what do you expect from the British?

I was doubtful of the TKS system, but after having put it through the paces, I'll take it over boots ANY day!!

The diamonds are flimsy. And, crappy.

After several hundred hours of dual in them, I hate them more everytime I see them.

I ended up with 515 hours in them, mostly DA20 and some DA40. Our mx was good and I fit in them ok, so overall my experience in Diamonds was great. I miss flying them. I wish I could trade my 188 hours of 172 time for more Diamond time.

See, I am absolutely opposite...I'm glad I have a sound foundation of instrument skills. This glass stuff is making me very lazy already! As far as the FMS, it does about the same stuff the 430 or similar GPS did for me...just learning the buttonology with it now and a few new things with it. If the magic ever takes a dump, I'm glad I know how to actually fly an airplane...now the trick is to not let those skills atrophy (sp?).:yar:

You should come out here and do some more instructing while you're waiting for more flying :-P

Tell me this, your car hasn't moved from the parking lot in well over a month, yet mine has much more bird shat on it than yours.
