Does anyone know where to start to get a custom ATC call sign? Who to contact etc?
I beleive that AC 120-26K spells out the procedure as well as the rules that apply.

I didn't know until now an AC existed for call signs! Thanks for the info!
Indeed. It's so the FAA can include you in the ICAO 8585 document. - it has all the civil call signs for everyone in the world.
The military equivalent for all military call signs are in ACP 119 / JANAP 119.
Bernie Ecclestone owns a few private jets. The callsign of his operation is "Formula"
Guess who's private jet is always "Formula 1"?
King air shuga pop.Indeed.
PLEASE do not be a d-bag and make up your own call sign and prefix, incidentally.
I'm not sure how long it took Slap Chop, I mean, "SNAPSHOT" to get approved at my former, as they finished all that before I was hired. I can't imagine it being an expeditious process. The process is simple. Just follow the instructions in the order and it should be breeze. If your 135 / 121 it's whole different ball game.....I'm still trying to get approval.

Now every time I hear it I think "snapchat? They have a flight department?" at first.I'm not sure how long it took Slap Chop, I mean, "SNAPSHOT" to get approved at my former, as they finished all that before I was hired. I can't imagine it being an expeditious process.
"Fish and Game, er, correction..."I've had: Slapshot, Snapfish, Slapchop, Photoshop, Snapchat and for some reason I keep getting redstripe, ambitious but I think not (I think their identifier must be RSP).
It's okay though, we get them back by calling them "Albaturkey Center"![]()
That's fairly impressive considering that you have to ask the FAA. I like it.It only took a month or so if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure we ended up talking to a guy who's long forgotten desk is in the coat closet all the way at the end of the hallway and to the left in the 5th subbasement at the FAA mothership. He was a nice guy though
Basically you choose five callsigns and five identifiers in order of your preference and submit those, once they get around to reviewing it they pick one of the five. Not necessarily the matching pair either. Which is how "FSP" ends up being "Snapshot"
