Current Lines?

Would any of the regional/major airline pilots care to post excerpts, etc. of the current line they are flying or lines they have recently flown? I am always interested to see where various trips can take a pilot on any given day. They don't have to be current or anything like that (so you don't think I'm trying to stalk you). Thanks in advance for anything.

Here are my two most recent trips.

Day One:

If you don't mind me asking...was that charter maybe the Syracuse Men's Basketball Team playing Boston College?

Deadheading = Riding in the back of a revenue flight to reposition so you can do a flight (or go home).

Yeah, Syracuse basketball charter.

I'm on reserve, so when I get a 4 day trip, it's usually one that nobody wanted. For instance, in this trip I had a 25 hour overnight in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Not a popular choice, although there are things to do if you try (casions, cajun food, etc).

My most recent:

Day 1

IAH-HSV 1542-1723
HSV-IAH 1750-1954
IAH-OKC 2100-2223

Day 2

OKC-IAH 0812-0948

Day 3

IAH-SHV 1425-1524
SHV-IAH 1543-1629
IAH-SRQ 1904-2051

Day 4

SRQ-IAH 0805-1047
IAH-BJX 1208-1414
BJX-IAH 1500-1653

All culminated by a reposition/taxi which took about 45 minutes when all was said and done.

Did you have to clear customs for the repo? Man, I went through that customs line at IAH last week. I thought Montreal/Dorval was bad! Parked at an actual gate though, maybe it's different when you hardstand.

Yep, but we got a terminal D jetway as well. I called ops inbound to the gate as usual (which some capts. tell me not to do when we're inbound from Mexico for precisely this reason) and ops says they need us to repo since the SuperTug is broken.

We pull into the gate, hike a mile or so to customs (which isn't all bad after sitting down all day), clear customs, go back through security, hike back to the gate, wait for a Gate Agent to let us down the jetway, then wait for a ramp crew/tug driver to show up for pushback, wait for a chance to get a radio call in on the super-congested ramp frequency, and finally park the thing at terminal B. As we pull in, we see the supertug repoing another plane. Doh!

It takes about the same amount of time when you hardstand since part of the walk to customs is replaced by a bus ride, during which you get to take comments from the peanut gallery on your last landing. Boy, was that rough on those first few trips off IOE.

My last 4-Day (on reserve):

Day 1
IAH-ZIH
ZIH-IAH
IAH-MLM

Day 2
MLM-IAH
IAH-LFT

Day 3
LFT-IAH
IAH-DAL
DAL-IAH
IAH-CUU

Day 4
CUU-IAH
IAH-MTY
MTY-IAH

I know what you mean about those 25+ hour Louisiana overnights. I had one of those in LFT.

We did the Mexico shuffle this trip. The last day was 2 customs trips and 2 repos, all because the SuperTug was "broken." We were on the hardstand. It's a shorter walk, but still a pain. Everyone on the bus thinks their a pilot and they all have a comment on your landing. It's bad enough to be insulted in English, but even worse when you're insulted in Spanish.

Boy, isn't that the truth. You can circumavigate storms, successfully escape moderate turbulence and shoot an approach to minimums with nasty gusts and serious crosswinds, but people HAVE to judge your performance on a landing, wonderful.
