CTI Q score

I am one class away from CTI, took the ATSAT with PUBNAT5 scored a Q score. I was just curious once I finish my CTI is a Q score good enough or should I retake the test when the time comes? Just curious if CTI grads are getting in with a Q.

I think well qualified CTI and well qualified OTS would probably be looked at before you. I'm not positive though, I have seen several CTI people who were picked up with only qualified scores.

Trying to avoid adding to the speculation here - considering how many applicants are already in the pools or are lining up for the next round of selections; the process is getting more and more selective.

there's is a possibility that CTI applications get prioritized over OTS so if you fill out the CTI aps whenever they open, that would be your best chance of hope with a Q... and I only say that because the OTS grinder is probably a hell of a lot less forgiving than the CTI/VRA/Reinst. approach.

WQ CTI and OTS are looked at before Q CTI and OTS. That's been confirmed. Now, speaking just out of my own opinion, I would give a Q CTI better odds than a Q OTS... but wouldn't expect either to get selected, given the competition. Go knock out some big points on that retake.

I was CTI, and like everyone else here what I say is speculation. But, I do believe that as long as you pass (qualified or well qualified) the ATSAT then you should be good to go if you apply through a CTI announcement. I think that CTI is looked at before all OTS.

I was told by someone who attends the panels for the midwestern region that every CTI grad gets picked up, WQ or Q. THEN they go to OTS to fill any left over slots.

I love these forums haha! Here is what ill do for everyone. Ive applied OTS with a Q score. Ill let you know if I get hired. Then ill apply CTI with a Q score and ill let you know. Then ill retake the test, if I get WQ ill apply OTS. Then CTI. We are going to straighten this all out dont worry. And just to give people an idea of my background to compare with other people in case I do get hired along the way. I am an Aeronautical Graduate, ATC minor, Flight Instructor/Airline pilot.

I think one of the reasons there is no specific answers is because they FAA seems to randomly select people at times. I've got a friend at the academy now who applied to Pubnat 2 or 3, he's not sure. Anyways he has no aviation experience, a degree in chemistry, some work experience, and barely scored Well Qualified on his ATSAT. He's headed to ZAU though, which makes it hard to pinpoint what the FAA is actually looking for.

I don't know for sure because we don't go around asking eachother's atsat scores but i am sure you can get a swivel head job with any score:laff:. But being serious, I am pretty sure they will hire CTI grads over any OTS. Even though once out of basics they have no advantage over the rest of us.

Yes. We had a CTI student in our towercab class that scored in the low 70's... He's very bright and was just entering the numbers wrong on the scan test...

And no...we don't go around asking atsat scores...this just came up in a conversation about the atsat.

Anyways, good luck to you all.

lol we'll be retired by the time you put out the data. but that'll be nice for our kids to know when they start applying

I am a qualified CTI student who got hired for Houston Tracon. I was told by the Oklahoma people and a manager at the Tracon that there are 2 different lists. One with all the OTS and the other with the rest of us CTI and military. I was told the panels look at the CTI list first and if there are slots left over then OTS are picked. As a CTI student who applied for the CTI job and the OTS job on the FAA website.....I did notice that my CTI posting was updated a week before the OTS job was......as far as it saying "you may or may not be contacted". My CTI school told me you WILL get a job. I am sure though if I would have known someone my chances would be pretty good too!
