Cross Country Recommendation?

I need to make up about 4 to 4.5 hours of x-c time for 323. I have the Warrior from 5:30pm and on today. Anyone recommend a cross-country that'll fulfill this time?

I prefer one destination to a place further away than multiple legs. I was thinking South Dakota since I've never been there. I've flown into Duluth, MSP, Anoka, STP, etc... so I want to avoid places I've been to already.

Sky harbor airport in duluth is by far the best airport I've been to up north here. I've got pics on facebook from my flight. I highly recommend it. I'm not sure if it's on the winter approved list, and I don't think it would be as cool in the winter as when I went in the summer. Still a neat little area though. It reminded me of California, minus the big buildings and mountains in the disance. :)

Sioux falls is kinda neat. Everyone goes there for their 250 mile cross countries though. You should go experiance the rolling plains of Iowa.:DDefinitly more interesting to fly over than MN, ND, and SD.

I don't even think sky harbor is on the regular airport "approved" list. you always have to get it approved if you are going there. I don't know how easy that would be in the winter...

You should prolly just go down to Sioux Falls if you haven't been down that way. It will get you the time you need, and it was actually a decent flight when i did it.

i wanted to do a dual 325 flight there a few years ago and i couldn't get it approved.

how about the triangle of death at 55% best economy? :sarcasm:

gfk-gaf-d41-d37-ckn-3h4-4v4-2l1-y37-gaf-gfk (and repeat until you get the time) :insane: But seriously, INL has a great FBO. With every gas purchase you'll get a free jar of jam (many different kinds, and it's pretty good)

that route wouldn't count as none of the airports are at least a 50nm straight line distance from KGFK

I had about that same amount of time to make-up at the end of 323, maybe a little bit more. I did KGFK-KDIK and back. On the way back it looked like I was going to be a little short so I pulled the power way back! If you fly at normal power you should get all your time no problem, if not just perform a couple smash & go's in the pattern. Good luck, fly safe. I will be thinking of you as I am scrubbing my wheels with a magic eraser!

I had to make up about 15 hours at the end of 323. I did the sammmmmme routes all over and over again, GFK-DVL-JMS-GFK, or GFK-DVL-GFK, and if I need more time, I decided it was a good time to practice some landings to kill time. I did a GFK-DVL-GFK flight and needed another hour so I ended up doing 16 night landings and 3 day landings for a total of 19 landings that day.:insane:

Oh fer cute, how lovely ......haha jk...... yes I will fly safe.

Hey, speaking of detailing... I can't wait for the warmer weather this weekend so that I can actually wash my car without it freezing instantly to the metal. :D

it will work great, those things work for everything!

I had a lot of hours to make up. I did GFK-BIS-GFK, GFK-FCM-GFK, and GFK-FSD-GFK.

There aren't really any cool airports around here. I'd recommend the GFK-INL route for the free jam.

On a side note, yesterday I flew into the best airport I've been to yet. O22 in Columbia CA. I have som great pics and I all try to post them sometime. It was absolutely stunning flying in the mountains.

I'm typing this at The Airtel, Van Nuys on airport hotel. I love it, 75 degrees and zero clouds. I want to move here!!

That's so close to my house back in CA. I've flown into there before, and i'm sure Jace has several times as well. It's known to be one of the best airports to fly to in the country (or at least CA). I think you can tent camp there too...and there are like hiking trails all around. It's definitely awesome!! Did you fly the Citation into there??? How'd you like the cliff/canyon at the end of the runway?
:nana2:

I went to St. Cloud in the arrow on my 323 x/c. Wasn't a bad flight, I picked up an AM station from New Orleans on the way down there. So I'd just say go to HNL :p
