Cross Country Definition

So far, I know it's 50 nm straight line from the original point of departure. But here's another scenario and tell me your thoughts on how of much this flight is cross country. (For 50 hours required for the Instrument rating purposes)

1. You fly from Airport A to airport B, 55nm away, you have your first landing.
2. Then you fly from Airport B to Airport C, 10nm away from Airport B, and 45nm away from Airport A and have your second landing.
3. Then you go flying for an hour from Airport C for sightseeing for an hour, you have a third landing back at Airport C
4. Then you fly from Airport C back to Airport A, 45nm away, for your fourth landing.

How much of that can be logged as cross country?

A) All of it?
B) A to B to C (but not sightseeing portion) and then back to A

Oh crap,

For ATP req's 1 and maybe 3 if you go further than 50 miles from the airport during your flight

For 135 req's 1, 2, and 4

For Commerical req's 1 only.

Makes sense right?

Subject to some possible claim that Leg 3 terminated the cross country nature of the overall flight, all of it. (we've discussed similar questions; the theory is there but I've never heard of it used)

The difficult with "not counting the sightseeing part" is, if you choose to view the sightseeing as not part of the cross country, you have effectively said that a cross country ended upon landing at C. So all you would have is the flight from A-B-C as your cross country time.

Me? I'd count all of it. But that's just me.
