Cross countries

Well, over the past weekend I got my 3 hours (actually, 3.3 hours) of dual cross country out of the way. First was friday afternoon, a short 105 mile trip. Second was yesterday evening, a slightly longer 145 mile trip. I'm getting let loose on Thursday to do the same trip we did on Friday by myself. Looking forward to it. It'll put a minor dent in the 5 hour solo cross country time. Looking forward to a night cross countries coming up in a few weeks.

The offer for lunch in Hilton Head still stands. I did make that offer didn't I?
Next time you're at CAE, go over to the FSDO and smack those people around. They still haven't given my company our 135 operating certificate. Its been 5 months now.

Ah lunch in Hilton Head eh? I'll take you up on that one. Hit me up for lunch in / around CAE.

I'll plan my solo long cross country down there. HXD have a landing fee?

Congrats and good luck! Doing my first solo XC on Wednesday. If there's anyone out at RAL you may wanna call in sick that day :)

good luck on you first solo x-country, its a pretty awesome feeling actualy going somewhere by yourself. Mine was 1F0-KAXS-KOUN-1F0 Not sure what avionics your plane has but try to get used to doing maps and times and that stuff by yourself, its alot diffferent without an instructor there. I did have a GPS though that i used for backup and to check myself. Gave me a much more peaceful mind to.

Well I made it there and back. We had our first polar front go through about a day and a half ago so a good bit of polar air was mixing down today. Winds were out of the ENE at about 10-15Kts at 030, clear skies. I would hit a couple pockets of rising air in the early afternoon heating that would bump me around a bit, but overall it was a good flight.

Planning my long XC for Tues or next weekend (work is going to be a pain next week so. . .). Thinking KFDW-KFLO-KMAO-KFDW.

Sorry TFaudree_ERAU, no Hilton head.

Since I got my license I usually take passengers for joyrides at night since it's just a lot nicer for most folks to see West Texas covered in night lights, I love night flying.

My advice, make sure you don't skimp on your night and instrument time with your instructor. There's times when there's 0 horizon, and no outside references. That's not the whole flight obviously, but it'll freak you out if you don't use your instruments when that situation comes up.

Just nailed my first solo cross country today. It was fun putting everything I've learned up to this point to the test.
