CRJ or ERJ

Phantom017

Up up and awaaaaayyy!
You are hired on with an operator which uses both the CRJ 700 and the ERJ 145. You are given your choice of birds. Lets say for the sake of argument that whatever base you choose you can fly either one from said base.

So givin this scenario I would like to know what you would choose and why. I'd like to hear the plus and minus about each airframe.

CRJ because I think that the type transfers over the the Challenger line eaisly.

So does the ERJ w/ the Legacy. :)

I think the jungle jet is cooler then the barbie jet but that's just me w/ no experience in either.

What's shortest sentence in the Bible?

CRJ cause it's "the seven" and I can turn my epaulettes around.

any difference in pay scales? I would probably take the 700 over the 145 but i would take the 145 over the 200. Granted my reasoning is pretty much just based off of looks. However the above poster does have a valid point with the familiarities to the Challenger line. I tend to see a lot more challlengers flying in the corporate world than Legacy's

CRJ type rating gets you into a Challenger 850 in business aviation and that is it. The Challenger 604/605 is a different type rating. The ERJ type rating gets you into a Legacy as it is the same type rating.

Depends on what your goals are. Good luck.

The type you get and the usefulness is relative. A CL-65 type (CRJ) might take you places in other jobs, but maybe not if it's not an SIC Only type, for example. Same with the ERJ-145/Legacy. The Legacy is specifically a -135 with a plush interior.. and a few other minor things. So where's the difference?

The CRJ outperforms the ERJ far and away. Reliability wise? Not so much. Or so I hear. Lots of variables in play here.

So let's look at other things. How fast will your seniority progress as you put time behind you with his company? Will you be low man on the Reserve list because one airplane runs super-senior?

There's more to this than "which airplane is cooler to fly".

My company operates both types. I'm told the CRJ has more comfortable pilot seats than the ERJ, but I have a more comfortable *monthly schedule* with the ERJ.

YMMV.

Well if you want to be weight restricted all day long and climb like a fat person, the 145 is for you. If you want a jet with power and get up and go...then the 700 is for you.

My RJ can beat up your RJ.

That's a -145 out of the factory, yes.

After a weight mod, or an XR as they are delivered, no weight restrictions whatsoever and plenty of climb performance.

Yeah I know, but there are MANY more Challenger series aircraft flying around. Thats my reasoning anyways. Plus, the nose on an ERJ just looks funny.

But...But...w/ an ERJ you at least get to pretend you're driving a motorcycle. WWWWWEIIIIIII!

I can't fight off all the Legacy job offers quick enough because of my EMB-145 SIC type...

;)

A crisp $20 says that you'd rather be in a 'Hawk than in an RJ, if you could......:D

I wish my regional RJ FO job left with me $20 to put up to wager, because you'd lose that bet.

My 'hero days' were fun, true, but less work for more money is where it's at these days. That, and the ERJ has air conditioning. That's worth its weight in gold.

Your bolded portion and your first sentence are contradictory. :) :)

Btw....the new UH-60M the Army has, has A/C.........wow, the tides have indeed turned in Army aviation.
