I dont fly the crj but i fly the vhally 605 which i guess has a similar electrical system.
The batteries are kept charged at all times by the respective charger powered from the MAIN AC BUS 1 for the main battery and from the MAIN AC BUS 2 for the APU battery; should the charger fail a MAIN(APU) BATT CHGR FAIL status EICAS message will be triggered together with an icon the DC synoptic page while should the battery output drop below 15vdc the charger will drop off line preventing the battery from overheating as a result of an excessive recharge potentially triggering a thermal runaway, as i dicated by a battery charger off icon on the synoptic.
