There aren’t a lot of places to land a plane as big as the 777, but, as luck would have it, I found one: a place just past the last handshake ring called Baikonur Cosmodrome.Fig. 22 Baikonur is leased from Kazakhstan by Russia. A long runway there called Yubileyniy was built for a Russian version of the Space Shuttle. If the final Inmarsat ping rang at the start of MH370’s descent, it would have set up nicely for an approach to Yubileyniy’s runway 24.

I feel like I'm reading a John Nance novel here...

I read that too. Crazy theory. The conspiracy theorists are out for sure. Whats funny is someday they will find it and read the FDR only to discover a series of failures. swiss cheese.

the domino affect can take down the most advanced airliners and experienced pilots, but there are way too many ?? over MH370.

Clear night and cruise flight is not usually where the dominoes start falling. It could have pulled a China Airlines, flamed out an engine and nose dived I suppose, but even they were on freq and communicating.

It really is a great mystery.

Americans have flown a plane into a swamp while investigating a burnt out light bulb. Never say never.

Oh yeah! No amount of technology or automation will ever 100% cancel out human error, but is just a very weird phase of flight to have such a outcome.

No smoking gun that it went into the ocean is what boggles my mind.

You could have had explosive D like major structural failure due to a bomb, but no one has claimed it yet so you can rule that out. It for sure wasn't a ditch because of the lack of mayday so if you think there is no foul play involved the only possible outcome was multiple systems taking a dump at once, which is highly unlikely in a Boeing.

I'm still blown away that no debris has been found.

Agree!

At this point any theory has legs in my book.

Oceans are more vast than you can imagine...

Oh I understand that, but just the idea that something the size of a 777 can just vanish in 2014 is still mind blowing. I would have expected SOMETHING to wash up, or be spotted by this point.

There are piles of trash that are miles wide in the oceans that never turn up on shores. A 777 is minuscule in comparison to the trash, or especially to the oceans, themselves.

We will eventually find something, and figure out what happened. It may be 50 years from now, but eventually something will be discovered.

To say Russia did it, as in the article, is laughable, though. A private pilot "expert". Come on...

Like a bunch of Styrofoam cups, life vests, seat cushions, bodies.

Makes one think it ditched and sunk pretty much intact.

Aiya. The simplest answers are probably one of the pilots pulling an EgyptAir 990, something going horribly wrong a la Air France, or a bomb. And I kind of even doubt the last one because I'm sure people would be falling all over themselves to claim responsibility.
