Crashpads

Maybe I missed it, or just don't see it, but are there any forums specific on the subject of crashpads?

And on that note, any ideas on crashpads in SFO? I start sitting reserve down there next month, and I've been looking on Craigslist but haven't had any luck thus far in finding one. Any airline pilots in the bay area need another roomie, or have an idea on finding a crashpad?

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If your company has a message board, try looking on there. Also, in crew rooms at the airport you will generally find crash pad postings. I would also recommend something like roommate.com. It would be more expensive to have your own room however, but if you plan on "living" in a crashpad most don't allow you to stay there for more then a few days at a time.

a crashpad forum isn't a bad idea...maybe under the propilot section...we don't have one currently but i have seen threads about crashpads before!

Outside of Craigslist, and some of the other housing listings online, its pretty tough to find the temporary housing needed for us airline pilots.

I guess that was the other reason for my post. I know each airline has a platform for crewmembers to share ideas, thoughts, and concerns. Someone had mentioned the idea of contacting pilots from other airlines about this subject, and I'm not quite sure how to do that. As a SkyWest pilot I can contact other pilots at SkyWest, but airlines like United, SWA, or even Alaska, that have a larger presence in the bay area might be more available in the ways of crashpads.

I have until this Friday to find a place to crash, so if I sound a bit rushed/frantic in my writing, thats the reason why.

Again thanks for the help!

All great posts so far, keep 'em coming!!!

I guess this thread was more directed toward the United, Alaska, and Southwest pilots (or any other airline with a large presence in the bay area), to see if there was any contact info for those airlines where I could get the lowdown on the crashpad subject. I'm sure there are a few in the area, but that info may not necessarily be available to a SkyWest pilot (or other carriers at SFO).

Hate to sound like a skipping record, but the time is running out for my buds and I so please keep the ideas coming. PM me anytime if you prefer, but I'll be looking intently at all the responses!

I do greatly appreciate all of those that have already responded, and I hope to hear from more of you! :)

Buy a membership at a 24-hr health club so you'll have a place to shower and shave, and then sleep in your car. Try to get as many overnights as you can. A regional pilot has got to do what a regional pilot has got to do!
