Covid shots now required at UA

This virus will never go away. There will be some immunity built up like we have with the flu. A yearly shot for those with weakened immune systems or those who want to lessen impact of the virus. But to make it mandatory for employees to get it is ridiculous.

Working in a hospital system its mandatory to get the flu shot every year, or else we're termed. Also we have to show that all our other vaccinations are update annually. If not we have to go to employee health to get all of our immunizations and titers. Refusal and you're termed. Not seeing what the problem is here.

Read the actual language.

It’s only mandatory pending approval. And once it’s fully approved, it’s no longer ”experimental”.

You don’t have to stop dispatching, you can either get a vaccine or seek similar employment at another shop.
Oh yeah, going to another shop is so easy. And who's to say that shop went require the vaccine?

Absolutely untrue. Check your sources, because you are getting information that is not only false, but dangerous.

I understand that vaccinated people can catch and pass on the virus. That isn’t what you said. You said, and I quote, “Those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated have same chance of catching and spreading the virus.”

Ok you are right about the same chance but how is it dangerous? I guess if a person is obese, which accounts for 78% of hospital careers it's an issue. I just don't understand why people who are vaccinated care if the unvaccinated get the vaccine?

Because you are more likely to catch it and pass it on to others, and if you do catch it you are at a much higher risk of being one of the serious cases that can have lifelong issues, or die. And those that get seriously ill tie up much needed resources - the owner of this website lost his father-in-law to sepsis because there were not enough hospital beds available and they sent him home, where he later died.

Dangerous.

Yeah if you are in a certain age bracket or have health condition that warrants it. But I would guess a good majority of the country and world had the virus and didn't go to the hospital. And being sent home with sepsis sounds like a malpractice issue.

If you don’t care about being a danger to people “in a certain age bracket or have health condition”, then I guess I can’t do much more than call you nasty names under my breath.

I might just do that, too, even though I know how much pain it will inflict on you.

And you are assuming I haven't been vaccinated. The point I'm trying to make is that everyone should have their own choice and shouldn't lose their job because of it. There are a lot of issues that take up resources and hospital beds ie drugs, alcohol, obesity and I don't have a choice in what people do. I would love everyone to be healthy and safe. But I would also like everyone to be able to do the job that they enjoy and love.

People in a certain age bracket and health conditions should get the vaccine and take the proper steps to stay protected. Thousands of people die from the flu every year. I'm in an age bracket that needs the vaccine and I've done what's best for me. And even with you calling me nasty names under your breath, I hope you stay safe and enjoy life. I'll buy you a beer when things get better.

Mandates are a divide and conquer. Next it doesn't matter what the FDA approves, it is a formality, whatever is in those injections is the same. Finally, don't feed me the line that the vaccinated are immune, they can and will get SARS-COV-2. It is a wing and a prayer that it will keep someone vaccinated but with other underlying health conditions from ending up in the hospital.

Union workers should be protecting fellow union workers' lives first. I don't understand why mandating this vaccination (especially once it is fully approved) is such a controversial issue. Vaccine mandates have existed for decades.

Not on the masses at large or in work sectors that are not easy to single out for needing a vaccine based on emotional fear.

I think some of why the ones who are vaccinated care that the unvaccinated get the vaccine is because it does seem that the unvaccinated want to ram down these mask mandates and lockdowns or quarantines on all because they feel vulnerable with the virus but refuse to do the thing that would make them less vulnerable so they want those willing to get the vaccine to pay the price for the unvaccinated groups refusal. I don’t care either way, that’s just simply my observation and it might not accurately represent the entire population.

As for me, I’m over all this rona stuff. We have to live our lives. We have to go back to being people, we have to have events, celebrations, vacations, jobs... it is just not possible or realistic to hide from it forever and it also is not realistic and more than likely not possible anymore to picture a world without covid so get the vaccine or don’t get the vaccine.......but one way or another you will eventually have antibodies to this virus. The only difference will be whether you got them from infection or from vaccination. If you are at UA and faced with a tough situation like that, I don’t envy you, and wish you the best of luck with that situation.

At least from what I've seen in my neck of the woods is the some of vaccinated people want to continue the mask. I've seen very few unvaccinated that want to wear mask. I would just like to see more open talk about the subject and not just rely on the government. This Dr made some interesting points. Streamable VideoScreenshot_20210809-185611.png
