Cover Letter Question

Maybe this is discussed somewhere else but I am applying to Mesaba and am not sure who to address my cover letter to. Are there any general rules when not knowing who to address the letter to what should be put in the "Dear __________" Or if there are any other creative ways to start out a letter, any input is appreciated.

I start mine with "Good Day," - it seems pretty gender neutral but who really reads cover letters anyway.

Go for broke: "Dear Sanctimonious Asshat, I find the requirement for a cover letter to be a ridiculous exercise in anachronism, hopefully my resume will print off of your Gutenberg-era combination fax-printing press with little trouble, I made sure to use common character sets so the scribes wouldn't be too challenged. Please, you should already know who I am because of my monster.com and linkedin accounts. Good luck reading this email. Yours truly..."

Do I really need the tag.
