Is it more difficult to get on with a major (if they ever start hiring again) or a national carrier if you have a corporate pilot background instead of being a regional airline pilot?
I am just thinking that maybe the "big boys" would rather see previous 121 experience over 91 or 135 stuff. is that a correct assumption?
thanks.

This is one of those "high wing" vs. "low wing" debates...
In reality it makes "0" difference. At one time, NetJets had so many pilots going to Delta, that their HR dept joked about putting up a tent across from our building to hand out apps. Even had the Delta DC-3 on our ramp in CMH.
While regional pilots build 121 skill, they are flying in VERY limited markets. Mainly between the hub and a few outlying cities. Many corporate pilots cover the whole country in a matter of days. We fly aircraft equally or more advanced than the airlines also.
Before someone says it, I know the regionals have long routes too. But they are still only between the same two cities.
Example:
Cont Express IAH-CLT-IAH
A day at NetJets:
HPN-DAB-SEA-SAN (Yes, 1 day)
Of course, NJA isn't a typical corporate operator. If you were flying as King Air for a mom&pop operator from an uncontrolled field in Nebraska, I'm sure a major would prefer the 121 experience.
In a nut shell....you are as likely to be hired at a major with quality corporate time as 121 regional time.
