COPA Interview....

No, it's not me.

However, a JC'er just contacted me and let me know he was invited to an interview at COPA. A bit of networking set it up.

The individual is a current CFI and American.

I ain't namin' names, so don't ask. :bandit:

I just want to everyone know there are opportunities everywhere, sometimes you just have to kick over a few rocks.

They built a new high-rise for the headquarters on the south side of the city (the new rich part) a few years ago. The place is freakin' gorgeous!

Good luck! They're good people.

Kicking over rocks is my specialty, glad to hear that there is hope for me yet!

But enough about me....Congrats to the person who surely earned the interview! You'll do great :)

Good luck to the interviewee!

On their website for prospective foreign applicants, it says to submit to them copies of licenses, US Passport, Flight Records, ETC. Is this safe to do? Just seems like a bit much for an application and it's the first time I've seen that. Just curious due to security purposes, so can anyone provide some insight into that?

Not sure about COPA, but in the contract world, this is standard practice. A lot of things are done by email. We have a temporary guy here right now, and he still has not talked to the lady that is our direct boss, other than emails and documents back and forth. We fly under another country's registration, so we have to have validations for that country to fly the airplane. To acquire this, it requires copies of all of your documents.

As far as I know, there is nothing anybody could do with your certs (as long as you got rid of your SSN for your number), passport, etc., as far as identity theft.

Just be careful of what information you send out and where you are sending it. If you are old school and still have your SSN as your certificate number, get it changed ASAP.

I would love to fly for COPA since I was born there and have a ton of family there. My mom bought me a couple acres of land that is just waiting for a house to be built on it.

Good luck to whoever got the interview! Panama is a great place if you can handle the humidity and mosquitos.

Thanks, SC, for the info! Good to know. I figured that was the case -that it must be some sort of standard practice.
