No pictures, of course, but we're turning left as we cross DYANN on the arrival and there's this big blue glow, a bigger blue flash and then an entire grid of whatever-is-west-of-SLC#2 goes dark.

Then the grid flashes, another blue explosion and then it goes dark.

I really wanted to watch the show but we had to turn base.

I dunno, I guess you had to be there!

Maybe the aliens relocated from Roswell to that part of Utah....
 
Was doing a night IFR training flight a couple weeks ago and I saw a meteor that was so close it appeared to be only several miles away from us. It was incredibly bright, and it was so close you could see pieces of the burning debris coming off behind it quite distinctly. Very cool sight as well.

So what was the big flash? Correct me if I'm just naive here, but you are talking about an area of the city going dark right?
 
I changed it to "-themed pajamas" because 90% of the kiddos on the site probably never heard of 'em! :)

I saw one of those a couple weeks ago over southwestern kentucky. I was at 8,000ft it went below me. Looked like less then 10 miles away. Had a greenish/blue color to it. Incredibly bright.

No, we get it. All males inherently understand, on a deep genetic level the appeal of bright flashes, loud booms and things blowing up in general. Especially if it involves electrical transformers or substations. :) (People being hurt as an expeption of course.)

Is there any guy here who as a kid didn't play with matches, fireworks, burn things with a magnifying glass?

I tried to make a isopropyl alcohol-powered appliance cart when I was a kid...

I still have burn marks on my thumb if you look close enough! True story!

We tried to make flaming swords out of survey stakes by soaking the tips in gas from the lawn mower.

Never seen a lawn mower burn like that since.
