Cool GA airports to visit

Sikeston, MO (SIK) has Lambert's Cafe right next door for a cool unique experience. Blythsville, AR (BYH) is a cool 11,000' long runway that is not towered and used as an MD80 boneyard, ex-AFB too I am pretty sure.

Lambert's will also come and pick you up from the airport and put you to the top of the seating list. If you're IFR, please make sure to cancel with us so we don't have to go calling Lambert's to close your flight plan, just like what has happened with some of the H-60 pilots out of Ft Campbell a couple of times. :)

Blytheville was most recently a B-52 base, a FedEx overflow (due to its close proximity to I-55), and American Eagle has some kind of maintenance facility there.

DITTO TO THIS. 8A1 is also a great place in NorthWest Alabama, about 30 miles east of huntsville. They are about to change the airport around and build a new longer runway with a dedicated sea plane base and runway along side. It is on an island in the middle of a lake created by damming the TN river. Come in over the water on both ends and when you take off, its always fun to keep the airplane low over the water for a while and fly along the river in the valley. Just watch for the powerlines down the river.

come to amarillo and do some pattern work, it would be nice to talk to a fellow sooner on the radio

A sooner living in Texas? How does that work for you?
fortunately im not the only one at the tower, but i am definitely the minority. as far as the state....i like that i can buy regular beer and the fact that i dont have to pay income taxes...

as far as amarillo goes, the second largest canyon in the USA is only about about a 5 minute flight south. VERY pretty/cool to see....esp in a helicopter

KOSC is pretty cool if you have a car to get around. It is an old SAC base.

On one side there is the SAC ramp and associated bunkers and ready room building, on the other is the old base. It was weird to see streets with side walks and driveways going to no houses.

The runway is quite long and you take off and a million times in a 172 on one pass.

WDG or ADM, but not because they are cool. Just because I go there so much on my xc flights. I should probably change it up a bit also.
