Cool Airbus Video

Missed approach, set power, flaps 15, positive rate, gear up!

When in doubt, go around!

That approach was bad from the beginning...did they "go around" anyone know? At the end of the video sounds like their powering up the engines to do just that!

It seems as though they were too high on final and tried to do a slip to dissipate altitude really fast to land.

Looks like an approach in very windy conditions to me with a successful GA. Not sure how you came to your conclusion, however, we don't "slip" large jet aircraft to lose altitude. Looking at the tree in the lower part of the screen and the way the aircraft is "crabbed", it appears the wind is right to left and very gusty. Been there done that..not fun!

I forgot about the glide ratio of larger aircraft.

Glide slope?

Im kinda wondering what a glide ratio is too?

A glide ratio is the amount of distance traveled per altitude lost... ie most cessnas have a glide ratio of roughly 6:1, therefore, for every 1000 ft of altitude lost in a glide they travel 6000 ft across the ground.

Not sure that an A320 can really glide. but who knows after that Transat A330.
