Contrail bags?

So far, my first impressions are simply that it's a beautiful bag, lovingly-crafted, well-thought-out. The 400 is also quite large! I'm doing my first trip with it tonight, so we'll see how it all works out. I will probably take it with no rolling bag.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. Just curious how long it took to receive your bag. I ordered one over a week ago and paid via PayPal. I have yet to receive any shipping confirmation or tracking info. I was a little miffed to see that he charged me $29 for UPS shipping--I did not choose an expedited shipping method/rate, just went with the standard rate. I'm a UPS My Choice customer, so I get tracking info via UPS as soon as a tracking number is generated.

I emailed him about 48 hours ago and never heard anything back. I understand that he's a pilot and this is likely a secondary job to him. I'm fine with that and like the idea of giving guys like that my business. However, I'm surprised that he hasn't had time to respond to my email. Especially when close to $300.00 has been deducted from my bank account via PayPal.

If he wasn't a pilot and this were any other entity that I do online business with, I would have started the refund process through PayPal.

I'm probably spoiled by my Amazon Prime addiction, but I expected a little more from Contrail. Not in expediency, but in customer service. I will update this post once I receive my bag.

I’m curious how long it took to get your contrail bag? I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, have emailed and left a voicemail for him but still no response. I understand I ordered it around the holiday days, and that he is busy but I can’t believe he can’t respond to a simple email.

Whoa. I totally missed these questions.

Honestly, I don't recall, but looking through my emails it appears to have been rather fast. Days. But yeah, days and weeks with no response? That's no bueno...

@obx — I assume you eventually heard back?

It took nearly a month. He said that he was changing warehouses and lots of things were on back order. It took many emails and a few phone calls to get any answers. In the end, when I asked to cancel, he finally shipped it. He refunded the shipping cost and gave me an additional 20% discount on the bag.

The first bag had a minor defect on one of the zippers. A surprising and probably rare defect because the bag seems to be of very high quality. He let me continue using the bag until I received a replacement. He sent a new bag with a return shipping label so I could send the defective one back.

The bag itself is great. Very high quality fabrics and construction. Definitely the type of bag that I would build as a pilot. Despite the runaround with the shipping, I’d purchase again. The owner is a line pilot for, I think, AA. He’s running the business while still flying. A few of the times it took him a while to get back to me he remarked that he was on a trip. I don’t mind giving a guy that’s running a business while working full time a little more latitude with theses issues, but nearly a month wait was becoming excessive. He probably needs someone running the show full time when he’s working. I hope he works those issues out because it really is a great bag.
 
I checked out the website and ordered a bag that was marked down. FL420. Needed a little smaller bag than my luggage works cooler combo bag. Hopefully this one works out.
