Congrats!!!

Congratulations! Better you than me. :)

Just remember one important thing.

.. The biggest difference between an O-1 and an E-1 is the PAY.

Eyes, ears, open. Mouth shut. You'll go far that way. ;)

What's the old saying? "You know the difference between an O-1 and an E-1? The O-1 thinks he knows everything, the E-1 knows better." :D

Best thing to do as an O-1 when you get to your first unit, is to exercise command prescence. And that starts with having the first E-9 you run into get you your deserved cup of coffee. Insure they do this.

:D

Yes, absolutely. If he is a good chief, he won't delay in getting that coffee. Hopefully the O-1 will be smart enough to offer leadership advice to the chief well!!!

Sho' nuff. Getting linked in at the head of the NCO channel gets you plugged in right away.

Of course.. why you guys gotta give away all the secrets? Every young butter bar should learn something the hard way, right?

I can see it now......

"But, but sir.......this guy named MikeD on this forum called Jetcareers told me to do this!!!!"

Haha, when I was an O-1 I would not even think of doing this. :D It was more along the lines, of "Chief, I need your wisdom." (I went to a Marine Safety Unit straight out of the Academy, I didn't know squat, LOL). Coast Guard runs it a little differently though...

As an NCO, I never pass up the opportunity to correct a lieutenant. Depending on the severity of said infraction, it usually involves lashing their bag to an airdrop heavy equipment load. If I'm feeling nice, I'll rig their bag to the bomb rack and let them figure out how to get it down when we land.

Rule #3 of flying on a C-130, never...ever...EVER F with the loadmaster or hand him/her your bag, it won't end well for you or the bag.

Or if they're bad enough, rig THEM to the airdrop!

Only bag to hand the Load is the bag with lunch in it! And if its his to have!

Yes, exactly right.

What MikeD was saying was a joke.
