I’m apparently too dumb to wear a hat.

(The alternative outcome is highly, highly satisfactory, and for this I am very excited. And wondering why I waited so long.)

Eh, you're one of the smartest and most laser focused, dedicated guys that I know. I could have really used that stuff when I was your age. Instead of staying on task, I got distracted and let life get in the way. Had I not, I wouldn't be playing catch up and would be in a far better place career wise than I am now.

Everything happens for a reason. Even if we don't know why. Glad to hear that you're excited about the future. Now get out there and make us all proud. But more importantly yourself.

Whatever intellectual deficiency I have obviously has precluded me from success in academia, in training and in eight years of professional aviation. :sarcasm:

I'm very excited. From the first interaction, I really felt like I belonged there. And I think that their model and business is a masterful understanding of consumer behavior in air travel, and also an understanding that a jet that is not in motion is not making any money. (And apparently there's a tray table up front and fantastic quality of life, too.) I had fun at my interview, too, which is NOT something I can say about pretty much any other airline interview I've done thus far - most of them are about somewhere between a visit to the in-laws (tolerable, but you're on edge) and what I imagine a conscious colonoscopy feels like.

It's been a long couple of weeks between work, school and wearing my suit, for sure - I have to admit, the timing (I had just walked across from the Kremlin with a "not tier one" letter and a card to call reservations) was pretty interesting as well. Exhausted but proud and happy.

Congrats man! Only flew with you a time or two before I escaped the land that civilization forgot but you will be missed. And not just because of the fact that you were one of the few captains I literally had to look up to. My neck hurts just thinking about it.
