Confidential internal company memos

I've noticed something on the boards over the last couple years that has me really upset. Often, an individual with no official ties to a company will post an internal memo sent out to company employees or specific employee groups. The most recent one I read on the boards even said something to the effect of (though this part wasn't quoted), "Please keep this information confidential until your representatives have the opportunity to present it to management." Having that information posted on a public forum just days after it's sent to the employees can undermine the efforts of these types of memos. Company information, particularly bargaining information, has no business being disseminated in this fashion. If you are giving out this type of information to someone who will likely post it, please stop. If you're the one posting it, shame on you.

And no, these instances are not limited to my own company.

So does that mean I shouldn't tell everyone that I have an interview with Alaska later this month?

yeah I thought that was pretty stupid too. Unfortunetly, there are too many immature people out there. Regardless of whether you agree with what is being said or not, you should always respect that groups wishes. Well said Jon.

Chris, first congratulations. I know you've been wishing for Alaska for a long time. Second, no, your announcement has nothing to do with internal company information.

Omar, thanks for the backing.

I know it had nothing to do with internal memos, just trying to find a subtle way to leak out the information on my interview! I'll broadcast to the world what's happening when I have something more to report.

I know, I know, I've been talking about being a lifer at Skywest, but the call of the north is just too great to resist! Our trip this summer really lit a fire under my butt to get back up there!

Off to study. .. .

A man's got a right to change his mind, no? I'm sure everyone one of us out there would have done the same thing, and put our families future ahead of everything. It would be sad to see Chris go, but Alaska would be getting a golden opportunity to hire him.

Chris, best of luck!!! Sometimes it takes some serious pondering, soul searching and questioning to determine what the best course of action is, but you'll always in the end come up with the right answer! Keep us updated!
